Last nights rain was considered especially heavy. The amount of rain was enormous and had a fast on-set according to my weather station.

90 mm of rain in one night is a huge amount for a small place like Arillas.
Every 1 millimeter of rain corresponds to 1 liter of water falling on every 1 square meter of surface. So, 90 millimeters means that 90 liters of water fell on every square meter! Imagine: On a 100 square meter rooftop, a total of 90 × 100 = 9,000 liters of water fell!
90mm rain is a very large amount of rain, especially if it fell last night in Arillas area
Such an amount usually causes serious problems and floods, as the ground and drainage systems cannot absorb or remove so much water quickly.
For many areas in Greece, 90 mm is a rainfall amount that can exceed the total monthly average for the entire month.
According to my good friend and fellow weather-entusiast Iacovos Vasilakis, our Arillas weather station recorded the most water fall of the entire island compared to the other stations located n Corfu.
here are some pictures of Arillas beach this Morning after the storm .
A fiew homes and businesses were fludded last night some of them are really bad affected. Thank god none was hurt...
This kind of weather has hit us before its not unusual and the beach of Arillas will be somehow back to its normal form until you next visit.
