Tried the Royal Ionian towards the end of our first holiday at the Mathraki in 2012.  Wow - really smooth!

Can also recommend the housewine at the pool bar at the Mathraki.  Only tried the white but we both thought it was crisp and delicious

Any Ouzo lovers out there?  Straight, with ice, water or lemonade?  Let's hear from you....

Hi Suzy61 sounds perfect and we arrive Friday mid afternoon so may well have to walk up there on the Saturday lol!
That lunch sounds like the perfect lunch Val and Bill. I love calamari, really looking forward to Arillas!

I'm not a big lover of ouzo but my husband loves it straight with lots of ice and always has one with his breakfast...what ever the time!

Any useful tips please anyone on extras to take to mathraki. Normally do BB so never tAke extras. Example-should I take washing up liquid, corkscew etc?

You will need to take the little things like washing up liquid. They do provide tea towels.can't remember about corkscrew.  We had our own bottle opener so can't remember about that. You will need your own hair dryer but I haven't yet stayed any where in Greece that supplies one. What other stuff do you want to know? X

Fully equipped kitchen at Mathraki, variety of pots and pans plus frying pan, two ring cooker, oven, grill, two sizes of glasses, plates and dishes...cheese grater, lemon squeezer, lots of knives, spatulas, whisk and full variety of cutlery plus tea pot milk jug and sugar basin salt and pepper....bread bin, bread board ,dish drainer, tea towels, tin opener and corkscrew. Take or buy washing up liquid, buy toilet rolls, there is usually only one supplied.

BUT, we only used two mugs, a teaspoon and two glasses.....the food at the bar is so good and very reasonably priced.

The breakfasts are  to die for, with eggs from the chickens in the garden, a large menu for all times of the day.... but if there is something you fancy that's not listed you only have to ask.

Milk and water for your room, and a vast choice of soft drinks in the fridge, plus ice cream in the freezer.
The only thing missing from our room this time was an ice tray in the freezer but I always take those plastic ice bags anyway because we drink our pre-dinner ouzo with lots of ice before we go out.

Hope this comprehensive list helps all of you going to the Mathraki for the first time but......like Bill and I and lots of other couples you will soon become regulars visitors there.

If I have forgotten to mention anything you will need...you just have to ask any of the family and you will probably get it right away.

Enjoy your holiday, Val x

Blow me over Val, you must have done a stock take with that list but you missed the most important thing.

THEY ALSO HAVE THE SUN IN THE SKY.

But WHAT ABOUT THE CORKSCREW???!! That would be my ONLY question lolb!!!

Eggy

Hmmmmm!

Getting worried now and have to ask......

........ That wasn't Bill on that recent "Minty Biscuit" post that Barry did?

Thanx everyone, will not be doing any cooking, just a little concerned about the corkscrew and wine glasses lol!
To be fair will be doing most of our drinking at the bar but some times a little tipple on the balcony does not go amiss!

Val n Bill

Jo... Corkscrew was listed, we had two, one on the tin opener and a proper one. Mind you there are not many wine bottles these days that need one. Lol

Diana...shower, dress and sit on the balcony with a glass of ice, pour the ouzo over the ice...bliss :)

Eggy...I was thinking the same thing, but the accent was wrong, he denied it anyway,  he prefers a chocolate Hobnob. Can't be bothered with foil.

John... I forgot that the studios also have a mossie plug in the rooms. If I remember anything else I will let you know.
