Arillas - last week,
Just to let you all know that we had a wonderful week in Arillas last week. Photos will follow, unfortunately I'm having problems with my main computer which has been taken to the doctor this morning!
First, thank you to Eileen. You must be very proud of Villa Linakis. It was warm, welcoming & a pleasure to stay in. Thanks Negg & Wegg for looking after us we had a great night on Friday, but poor Gary did have a bad hangover on Saturday morning!!
It was also good to meet Bob & Penny & everyone else who made our stay very enjoyable.
It was of course a very sad week too to learn that Kostas had died.
We had very mixed weather, rain - lots of it, sun, hail, wind, thunder & lightening. It was cold but on Tuesday & Friday we had spells of quite warm sunshine - even pulled out Eileen sunbeds. The warm sunshine on my face was bliss.
Even grey days in Arillas don't seem as bad as our grey days, I think it is because there is still so much colour around. The trees are green & not bare, there is an abundance of colour from the wild flowers everywhere & the fruit trees are laden with oranges & lemons, also the sea is still that wonderful azure blue colour. Friday morning we went out on Eileens bikes & took lots of photos which will follow soon. We cycled around the village, past Villa Helios Court [ all was quiet Frank] we came out by the Gallini, then we cycled up the Arillas to Afionas road - well, walked actually, what a climb!
We managed to get done everything that needed to be done regarding our build - choosing tiles, sanitary ware, doors, kitchen units etc & we agreed where to place sockets & switches & lighting. It was a very busy week. We watched the concrete being poored into the base of the swimming pool. We had a heavy down pour that day & the cement lorry got stuck & had to be pulled out of our muddy drive by the JCB.
It was wonderful to be in Arillas 'out of season' but I look forward to returning in April/May when we will see more familiar faces & our favourite places are open.
