Cheeky minky. Well, yes I will be there again this year, and can`t wait. You first, where and when are you staying etc? I`ll definitely be buzzin` about. I`ve got some places to re visit, so it should be good. What are your plans? Are you into jogging, fishing, or what? Bfn.

We visited Mon Amour to have a meal during our visit in October having heard a lot about the place we went and gave it a try,
Bad time of year, wrong night or usual service?.

First impressions count and this was a poor first impression for us.
We arrived around 8.00pm one old gentleman sitting just inside who called out for service for us. there was another couple in the room.
The waiter came over a bit ruffled as he was called away from the TV, We asked for the Menu. this was not given and he offered us the choice of Chicken, or Stamnas.
No starter or desert,  we should have left at this point but stayed, we all had the chicken.
The food was basic but we enjoyed it.

A family who arrived some twenty minutes after us were offered the Menu and a full choice of what was available, including starter and deserts?

Did we do something wrong? Who knows but it seems that we were not welcome at the time and unfortunately we will not be returning.

It's very dissapointing to read this as Mon Amour is our local here and used quite a lot. I've hignlighted your bad points and just haven't got an answer for any of them.

It's true that they do wind down from the end of Sept and we are very used to not being offered a menu. ( Maybe they thought you were local? - Locals don't get Menu's )
What they have is usually the choice at this time of year..
We never do starters and desserts are very rare. Generally they will bring you some "available" fruit FOC. I don't think they offer many starters It's a place to go if you want some decent meat with salad or chips. Nothing fancy and quite basic.
( To be offered Stamna is very rare indeed - Must have been freshly made )

The truth is , I just dunno! - Something that i will mention when we are there next as we have got to know them all well.

Sad to read this post but these things need to be said. ( In this case very well putl )

Cheers
Negg

Dimitris has written a page on this website that explains how the Greeks eat at their local tavernas, Mon Amour being one and open all year with a limited choice of food in the winter. Mon Amour is a grill which has a different licence I believe and I too have never been offered Stamna only grilled or roasted food! Many resort tavernas use menus because they think the tourists want them!

Neil,
Im sure that Mon Amour is well presented and has a good reputation
I would not wish to tarnish that and I know that lot's of people enjoy eating there.

The post was just my view of an evening that was somewhat of a damper for us.

I would not wish to put people off eating there, We did enjoy the food.
