I echo Pat's comments
QuoteThanks very much Maggie and BBB as locals for keeping us poor folk in the UK up to date

Arillas is never far from my mind, and I really value the regular updates people like Eggy, Maggie and BBB post for us to read. They aren't obliged to, but freely contribute what to some of us is a vital service. Thanks

Phil

This morning has been lovely.....bright and warm in the sunshine. The doors are wide open although last night's logs are still smouldering in the fireplace. A contrast to yesterday with torrential downpours, hailstones and 4 power cuts! Better get back outside as the days are still short.

Erja

*deep sigh* it just sounds kind of rustic and romantic to a Londoner BBB. Stay warm and enjoy the day :)
Life is good ;)

Janis

Sounds wonderful, BBB - we've not been out of the house (except to walk round to my daughter's) since before Christmas - except for one day when we managed to get the car out of all this awful snow and dash between snow showers to the supermarket!
Wish we were there now - regardless of the days being short!

A short drive out this afternoon, first to Arillas Beach to find the damaged area now cordoned off. Still big waves and threatening clouds.
We then carried on to San Stef beach which has also been affected by the weather. The sea is much further in and the stream which normally runs into the sea is now a river and has changed it's course and travels across the beach. It was too deep to cross, so we will return another time with our wellies on. We passed two goatherds and their flocks on the way home.

Maggie

We also went to look at the beach (or lack of it) today. It was bright and sunny then. Now the rain couldn't possibly come down any harder!!!!

Vaughan & Angie

Does anyone know what has happened to the Makris website, please?

Glenny

Looks as though they are back with Manos, try e-mailing Mike Travers at mhtravers@gmail.com, he may be able to shed some light on it.

Eggy

Been out of touch for a while as I'm still waiting for the car to be fixed. Problem getting a couple of parts I'm told.

So, still haven't got to Arillas yet. I've been trying to contact Akis ( Mathraki ) on behalf of "The Boss" as I think he looks after the webcam. - Still trying!

12 deg and dry today but am told the rain will be back avrio.

Cheers

Neil, I think then sooner you have a tame mechanic living close by the better! We'e just sitting here and pricing up ferries and flights etc. and trying to work out dates etc. for June,

We're caught here by the "excuse" that Epithany meant many places closed for a while. Hence a delay of supplying the parts needed for Punto.

I will be back but the latest available date for car is, at the moment, Friday!.

Take heed people - When you live in a different Country you abide by their rules.
( If I had any hair left to pull out - Well................... )
( Is this the worst Winter we've had so far? - Yeeessss )

( From a very mild 11deg here at 18:30 hrs )

Ivan

Neil, look forward to having you back, and as a friend of mine says " it's not all sugar lickin'". Keep your head down and your chin up,

Janis

"Keep your head down and your chin up" - hmm, that's a strange position to be in, Ivan!

Hi Eggy,
Quote:
"When you live in a different country you abide by their rules".
I couldn't agree with you more, we all expect that from migrants.

When I stayed at the Horizon in September last year I was running out of ciggies and
drinking water early one morning, so I asked Marino: When does the minimarket open? He answered: When the owner comes. You're in Greece!!
(Elementary my dear Watson, ha ha!!!)
That's just one thing SO different from Denmark. Quite charming when you're on holiday, but it would take me a while to get used to in every day living I must admit!

But what a wonderful philosphy to adopt though, Connie! We non Greeks seem to get too involved on all the minutiae of life (I certainly do!) and it's lovely to be able to share the Corfu way of life when we're there
