Wish Easyjet were available from Cardiff CWL. I have had to pay £248 return in May with Thomsonfly, a bit of a rip off in comparison, flight only.

Just noticed Easyjet have added another flight going out early on a Thursday morning from Gatwick pices are very cheap at the moment. These extra flights must be good news for Corfu and us independant travellers

Barry.

Eileen

Well spotted and thanks for that Barry...I'm off to investigate now!

We also have to fly with Thomson and their prices are high. But dont want to trek down to Gatwick.

blondegirl

Our flights in September with Easy Jet are on a thursday.  If you have more choice now of the days you can fly and book accommodation independently it doesnt matter how long you stay either, short or long visits.

Lisa, it must be easier for you this year not having to go from Gatwick.  what are the dates you are going now?  I see Brenda and John are going beginning of June.

I think we have a couple of days with them.We fly on the 13th.

Hi All!
It's not usually my stance to get 'carbon friendly' but it seems to me that despite all the hype there is no change to the central government 'attitude' to develop the central London based airports at the expense of the more rural ones. O.K. more flights from already overstretched and to most of the population of the U.K. out of reach airports seems madness. Each passenger has to travel large distances to these airports with the increased bus/train fuel usage, and general hassle of motorway cues and congestion just because a few companies offer 'cheap' flights. Cheap at what cost to the rest of the environment?
The use of the under exploited and sometimes better facilities of the  local rural facilities seems to me to be the answer. I just cannot understand why all 'bargain' flights have to be 'London' based, with local airports twiddling their thumbs with just the few arrivals and departures per day, when they are capable of so much more!
Been there, done it, and will never do it again. Garwick/Stanstead/Heathrow are just not worth the hastle. 5/6 hours on a coach, unearthly departure times, and and ants nest scenario to get to the the departure gate is not for me!
Perhaps someone out there can explain to me why this situation exists?
Will get off my soap box now,
All the best,
Martin.

I know what you`re saying Martin. We have to travel from near to far etc. Stay on the soap box, it all makes sense.

Theres a big row still going on about the new runway at Heathrow on the tv this week... they will have to demolish a whole village to do that... I dont see what good that does.  People will have to be rehoused or paid off.

Also, as we live 5 mins from Gatwick they wanted to build a new runway here.. that was about 15 years ago and it hasnt happened yet!!!  That would mean demolishing Charlwood, a village supposedly in the way and the flightpath would be directly in front of our house or over it according to plans we saw when a petition went out.  Apart from the noise, pollution and total mayhem on the roads already with the M23/5 it would have a big knock on effect elsewhere.

We havent always used Gatwick as we are so close, we have used Stansted and also Luton.

So..... why dont they just make the smaller airports more accessable and user friendly.  Instead of clogging up the areas nearer the bigger airports - spend the money on the smaller ones...  Just a thought!  Travelling across London can take as long as travelling from Bristol,it may be less mileage but the congestion in transfers can be longer.  With the Olympics looming too more people will be needing to fly in to the UK..  Its going to be chaos for those living in or around London.
If you want the rainbow, you gotta put up with the rain.

I'm glad you got up on your soapbox Martin...you too Sue...as it made me think a little further than my own selfish reasons for more flights from the regional airports.  Of course initially I was just thinking of my own need for more flights available closer to home at the prices which the London airports enjoy, but now thinking beyond that I can see the environmental issues involved too.

So far I have only been paying a slight interest to the new runway at Heathrow, but now after reading your post Sue I will pay more attention...how can they justify flattening a village?  I look forward to reading or seeing their justifications in the news.

Because I've booked with Easyjet, I receive their regular emails. I've noticed that on the last day of each month, I receive an email telling me they have a 25% sale on all seats for the coming three months (i.e. on 1 March, they are offering this deal on all flights from 1 April to 30 June).....providing you book by 4 March.

So I went on the sight to get some prices, which I've been checking at regular intervals because I have some friends wanting to go out to Corfu in May. I've come to the conclusion that it's a complete scam because the prices are in fact slightly higher today than they have been all week. Do they assume people will just book them simply because they are told there is 25% off?

At the moment, Easyjet is in fact looking more expensive than some of the other airlines.

Well said, Sandy. I'm as cynical as you over this (and to be honest everything else...) If you start from the position that the tour operators and airlines are trying to rip you off, you might just find a chink in their armour and get a good deal.

I just wish they were all run by our friends in Corfu.... What a difference that would make!

all the best

My theory has been proved right. I have just checked the flights I have been monitoring and now their "sale" is over, they are showing up as £20 cheaper so where the 25% discount was I cannot  imagine.

So the moral opf the story is.....don't be tempted by Easyjet "sales". Check the prices very carefully first because they are certainly no cheaper and may even be more expensive.

Eileen

Glad to hear your on the case Det.Davies. :-)

Keep us up to date with any pattern that emerges...so that we can strike when a genuinely good deal is on offer!
