Ooh Phil Feta stuffed chicken breast sounds lovely - think I'll try and make it - Yes Roula is an excellant cook and yes I could easily become bigger than I already am if I lived in Arillas!  Tommorrow my brother Stephen is coming to stay and weather permitting ,well I can bbq under an umbrella , I'm going to do a Greek style bbq.  On  the last thursday of my hols I went to a bbq at Kaloudis with Ken and  his daughter and I loved the way they did it , buffet syle as much greek salad you could eat, and I love stuffed vine leaves, ant Tzatsiki ( sorry for the spelling, ) then the meat was served separately all marinaded in lovely Greek herbs. So I've got all the indrediants for my salad and I'm going to  make a marinade from the herbs from my garden.
Take care

For 8 years we ate no where else other than Portofino, we didn't stay any where else either thats how we became so close to the whole family.  Over the last couple of years we have started to stayed at other apartments and have sampled the food in the other establishments, can honestly say I have only ever had 1 bad meal in all the time.  Got to admit Dimitris spit roast lamb is my favourite all time meal.

Hi everyone, I'm off to Arillas on Friday for my 5th trip and while I enjoy all the meals in the various tavernas one of our favourites is Eftihia's at the Kaloudis end of the road. The food is great and the service / welcome is as good as any where in Arillas snd there's a real traditonal feel to the place. However the place never seems to be mentioned on these threads and I just wondered why. Anyone know why? Thanks.

Eileen

Hi Dai,

Yes Eftihia has been mentioned previously, but it's good to see you bringing it to everyone's attention again. I agree with your opinion on the food, family and the traditional feel. It's a favourite place for me to chill out with a book after a morning on the beach.

Just to remind everyone...
Your holiday deserves a place like this...

Its our favourite too... We ate there most of the time last year, lunch or dinner... nothing is too much trouble for Efi, she is such a lovely girl... its a lovely quiet part of the sea front too with lovely views of the beach.  The Sea Bream was the best I have had in Arillas with wonderful herby butter.  Will never forget last September when it poured with rain, lightening etc.  we just moved everything inside and carried on eating... Efi even got her mum to take us home even though we were prepared to walk if they gave me a black bin liner!!  Shame we shall miss it all this year!
If you want the rainbow, you gotta put up with the rain.

Thanks for the replies. Like Eileen we tend to go there there after a morning on the beach. Although we usually have books with us I can't read there as I get mesmorised by the views. Sometimes I can spend hours looking at the view, not looking at anything in particular, just feeling completely relaxed. Of course the odd beer, retsina or karafaki of ouzo helps. Roll on Friday. And you are so right, like everyone else in Arillas Efi and Katerina are lovely people.

same as that this will be my 4th time to arillas and i havent tried all the resturaunts. - i am ashamed to say i havent even walked the whole length of the beach - and didnt even know there was a nuddy part. (so this year i might take a gander) if there is an eclipse of the sun you know ive got me kit off.

my favorurite eating place is the captins table - and i do like a bit of backlava and a beer with litlle billy at the bakery
I LOVE ARILLAS IT'S GODS LITTLE ACRE.

Hey Big Lee, perhaps we will see why you have named yourself that, when you venture on the north beach!! heh heh.  Sorry just couldnt resist :-)

We ate a lot at Portofino and found the food fantastic!! Enjoy

The food at Portofino has always been beautiful everytime we have tried it, and of course Spiros is a wonderful host. I think that the other beachfront taverna's look a little classier but its all about the food in the end isnt it?

We have a plan for our two weeks in July. Slap up meal with John and Dot at Brouklis (Roula, get the galactoboureko in the oven luvver...) then a starvation diet till we leave. Believe that and you'll believe anything!

There are so many choices. Last September we were there all month, and ate nearly everywhere but still missed some. It takes more than a week to eat in all the different places along the sea front alone, let alone all the rest.

This is an apology to any we miss out in July - two weeks isn't long enough! And then there are some you just have to go back to... oh decisions decisions!

No wonder I always put on a stone when I'm there...

Eating out in Arillas is such a big part of it all.

Phil

They all have this talent for making a simple meal very special, with all the herbs and the way they cook the food, so many lovely places to choose from.
Enjoy
