Well, it's already Christmas in Arillas. Only half an hour to go here in the UK. Endless shopping (all online) and endless cooking are over with. The chocolate cake I made is a masterpiece of Christmas kitsch, with plastic decorations bought on eBay and obligatory icing sugar "snow." There seems to be enough food in the house to feed Europe, but an alarming amount already consumed by my two hungry boys. At last the peace has descended on me, justlike it does as I arrive in Arillas.

Happy Christmas Arillas, forum and our Eggy. For two days I will be somewhere else.

Best wishes for Christmas and 2012 to all the good people of Arillas especially  at the Gratsella and the Bardis family, to all our friends that we meet every year. Have a lovely time

Christmas in Arillas is... quiet! This is the first time I've spent the 'change of the year' in Arillas but not much happens here. A few kids on XMas Eve going around the shops that are open (Vasillis, Veggie Man) singing carols.
The XMas lights in Corfu Town are, apparently, very beautiful, but I haven't made it over there yet.
The weather is beautiful, if a little chilly.

Merry Christmas, seasonal greetings to all who can't be here...

Sounds good to me......

Arillas Today? - North Corfu Today?

Very wet and very windy with a tad of lightening and a twinge of thunder.
11 deg outside at 11:40 a.m. and still raining.

We are told that Corfu is the windiest place in Greece at the moment.
WOTSTHATALLABOUT?

Cheers

Good to hear from you Eggy even if it is to report on a wet & windy North Corfu.
Think most of us in the UK would swap our cold snowy weather for yours - minus 10°C on my shed at 7am this morning.
Best wishes
PJ

The sun came out , around 1 ish, and at 5pm we sit comfortably with a 15deg outside temp. Lucky bunnies an all that!

That sums it up nicely, Eggy.  Sitting outside in February!  Am quite envious, however Spring can't be too far away - the snowdrops are out although I suspect they will soon be covered by the snow which is on the way.  Have had a few flake already and the radar shows that its got beyond Nottingham so Lincolnshire will catch it shortly.
Enjoy your wonderful island Eggy, despite the economic problems Greece has got so much going for it.
Regards
Pat

Not "Arillas Today" but Kavaddades last Sunday when they held their Carnival, where beer could be had for e1.50 , souvlaki e1.25 and a mini bucket of those super doughnuts, with honey for e1.50.
(The company of our good Greek pals was priceless)
