Have you ever sat in your garden on a sunny day and watched aircraft flying overhead. If you are anything like Helen and myself you would probably say "I wish were up there going to Arillas" or " I wonder where that plane is coming from or going to". We have lots of planes fly over us and this new website will tell you the details of the flights you can see.

http://www.radarvirtuel.com

It could also be very useful if you had to pick someone up from an airport.

I did a check tonight and I saw a plane approaching on the map, went outside and saw it fly over and then found these flight details.

Flight Number : SHT19W
Company : British Airways Shuttle
ICAO Hex Code : 4010DA
Reg Code : G-EUXJ
Model : Airbus - A321-231
Departure : ABZ - Aberdeen, Dyce - United Kingdom
Arrival : LHR - London, Heathrow - United Kingdom
Last Message : 18:47:33 UTC
Latitude : 51.77321
Longitude : -0.69978
Altitude : 2644 m - 8675 ft
Ground Speed : 516 km/h - 321 mph - 279 knots
Vertical Speed (m/min) : -78 (DESCENT)
Squawk : 5471
Heading : 41ยบ

It appears on the map like this (The orange plane)  and you can even see where it has circled around whilst waiting for a slot at Heathrow.

Thats amazing Terry - what a wonderful thing.  On clear days the sky over us just north of Lincoln is full of vapour trails and planes going somewhere.  Now I'll be able to find out where they are going and where they've come from.
I do keep beeing warned that the script on the page is causing my Internet Explorer to run slow - should I be worried?

Ace Terry! That is going to be addictive! Its like that website that recognises a song when you point your phone to it.  can't remember the damn name though!

Terry mate, you are suffering like me. Dreaming about flying in, and driving past Pantokrator heading to nirvana. And doing air guitar in the Nut. Heaven and hell in the same place.

Struggling to find hell though. If Arillas is hell I will be proved the worst criminal who ever lived.

But then...

Try it in Firefox Patrick. If it continues it could be that you have a slow internet connection due to you being in a rural area.

Fantastic Terry !
Been looking for something like this for years !
Hope I don't burn !

Think it must be slow running due to rural area (3 miles from exchange) and best speed I get is usually just under 2mb (whereas they sold it me as capable of eight).  Still its much beter than dialup.
The virtual radar runs OK - just a bit slow.
Thanks Terry.

We live opposite the exchange in Baltonsborough... Have a look on Google Street, BA68QY. As a result we get maximum speed. Between 6 and 8 mega bits per second. Some parts of the country get even more. Means bugger all to me.

I may be the most prolific poster on this forum, but it is because I care about things. I am not intrerested about competing. I post so much because I miss Arillas when I am not there.

Jen and me so belong in a villa opposite Brouklis. That piece of land must be worth a fortune. We would pay through our noses if we could afford to live there.

Help???????

Good one Terry, there's a severe lack of aircraft near Corfu....
I've got none to watch!

Here is a similar site with better graphics but with less details

We're supposed to be able to get up to 8mbps but the reality is around 1!  Our little rural area is too far from the Huddersfield exchange ......   (We still pay bt the same amount as anyone else though !!)
Still, I'll keep posting as much as possible, just have to click on preview first, then post and even then I sometimes lose the page! But at least it saves my post!
