Hi Eggy!
Whats all this about the first week in May. I'm a retired professional and don't go around singing rugby songs (at least I hope not) even after a night at Brouklis on the home made wine! Just joking! I hope we can meet up and have a natter. Not long to go and am already getting into Arillas mood.
Yammas,
Martin.

Arrive early morning on the 15th July

Hi Everyone, we are arriving during the day on 2nd June and staying in the Mirage, but have heard that sometimes the coaches dont go to Arillas and they drop you off elsewhere, where you have to wait for a minibus ! Not ideal with a 3 year old !!!

Does anybody know if this happens frequently ??

This is our first trip to Arillas so any comments on the Mirage would be helpful.

Cheers

The Mirage looks nice, but I've not used it. It is in a good position by the beach. The Horizon next door is great. It is Marino's birthday on the 2nd, so it may well be worth popping in for a drink there anyway.

As for transfers, you sometimes go straight to Arillas, sometimes round all of the other villages, other times it could be a minibus or once we even had a taxi. You can always decide what to do at the last minute depending on the time you arrive and the way you feel. Cabs are available at the airport 45E last year. For me it is money well spent, but each to their own.

We have been going to Arillas for 15 years and have never had a mini bus, always a full  size coach.  The only down side we have experienced  once or twice is that the coach has gone via Roda, Sidari and San Stefanos making it nearer a two hour jouirney.  However the fantastic scenery and less than great roads make it a very intersting journey ( providing you are not travelling at night).   As for the Mirage it is a great place to stay we have stayed there on several occcasions and been very happy.  The accomodation is relatively new, cleaned regularly and well and in our expereience Nikos and Angela are great hosts and could not do enough for us. You will have a great time!

Taxis gone up to 50E  each way, now apparently.. if you can afford to its worth it - even doing it one way if you are arriving late at night and then get the coach back when you leave can be a good idea, which is what we did one year.

If you decide to get a taxi dont forget to let the rep know... you can also book taxis through San Stefanos travel. the link  is on this site.
If you want the rainbow, you gotta put up with the rain.

The owner of Mirage is very bullish about his accomadation and everyone i've known, who have stayed there, have no complaints. Yiorgos, his brother, has the Malibu bar and I'm not sure if he's a joint owner of the Mirage. When you go into the Malibu tell him where you're staying. You may get a free drink!

Look forward to a meet up providing you don't learn any Rugby songs.

Saw a lady in the Creperie and passed on your best wishes etc

Arillas today, once again, has a lot going on.
20deg in the shade and warm.

Marino at Horizon re-varnishing all his chairs.
Kostas having a clear up at the Coconut.
Ina and George "spring" cleaning their Supermarket
A bit of painting at the Kaloudis.
Mathraki getting a spruce up. ( But,whizzkid, Akis still sat in his "Computer Room" )
"Captains Table" Taverna now have their tables and chairs outside !
Hotel Marvel doing what they gotta do for all the guests!
Thetis Hotel  - new raised bar area nearly finished.
Akti pool still ongoing.
Excess soil being removed around the new "Marina" pool - Looking good.Picture soon.

It tired me out just walking around watching the "goings on"

And the beach slowly returning to normal after those few days of "notsogood" weather

And, finally, a word of warning for those hire car users last year. If you memorised all the deep pot holes then forget 'em. They've been moved to places where you wouldn't expect, so be on your guard if you have a car this year!
( Probably by May they would have gone too - But , just in case)
and... If you see a Red Pug behind you pull over. I'm too busy to be enjoying myself !

Cheers All

If you could park where the arrow is shown below, we may be able to see you. There is a red car there now (16:28 Arillas time) but you are currently online so I guess it isn't your red pug.

I think that red car there now is an English Volvo belonging to a guy called Howard who was sat in the Horizon earlier.
( i parked in front of it around 2:30 ish )

If it's his I'm amazed he's still there as Horizon are not officially open today but, out of Greek courtesy Marino gave him a drink.
( Maybe they've roped in him to varnish a few chairs ! )

Hi Mark & Jade we've always made our own way to arillas with 2 young kids either by hiring a car or getting a cab at the airport (can be a bit scary if you have too much luggage as they just bungy cord the boot shut) Last year for the return journey we hired a minibus from Arkokal Travel which was 75 euros but worth if you can find someone to share the cost. Have pm you details Lou x
everything looks better through the eyes of your children

Hi Eggy

I have just looked at the last twelve web cam shots, could that be your Pug that drives past the camera?

Only just logged in so don't know. If it was around 2:30 then could have been.

Hi Mark and Jade - We stayed at the Mirage two years ago and these along with Anna's apartments are definately the best we have stayed at in Greece.  Angela and Nicos the owners are very attentive .  The pool is great and the restaurant is in a lovely position overlooking the pool and the sea for a relaxing evening meal.
