Hi
Just wondered peoples thoughts about whether its safe to book a holiday to Arillas in the current financial climate . Is it best to book the flight now and accomodation when I arrive in case the hotel got into financial difficulty or am i worrying unnecessarily?

Hello Saxa,
I don't find any reason to worry about the local business of Arillas going in to financial situation without being able to accommodate their guests.
In Arillas all hotels and accommodation complexes are family owned. They belong to local families who live here and THEY OWN their properties. Additionally, they also own their homes! almost none has a mortgage .
The independent accommodation is going to be the very last to have a problem in places like Arillas. Even if the whole European zone goes bankrupt.

Now that is wonderful statement to get more people to Arillas, and its going on my Facebook wall.

Good to hear my thoughts confirmed by "the Boss." Even the big Tour Operators can have problems, as can the shoe-string budget airlines. But the independent accommodation in Arillas is probably the safest financial bet in the whole holiday market. And always good value for money as well.

Never doubted it for even a nano-second. Excellent words from the Boss tho, well said.

I think Phil has hit the nail on the head on this one - it's the tour operator and/or flight provider getting into trouble that you should worry about saxa. Book Arillas accommodation direct with the owner and make sure that your flight is with a solid airline, even if you have to pay a bit more for the flight.

Even in the current climate, the changing of currency won't happen over night, though perhaps we should all beware Brussels bearing gifts!

Corfu is still a safe place to travel. Arillas is much safer still.
The only thing not safe is that English Guy driving his White Punto.
Now...... WOTSTHATALLABOUT?

Enjoy , Saxa.
