Out of interest, how much would you expect to pay for the ferry crossing from Venice to Corfu in Summer holidays, how long does it take and which airport would be nearest to the departure point? A challenge there if ever ther was one :-)

Jo Nearest Airport is Marco Polo airport about 5 miles North of Venice so you could walk from the airport to the ferry terminal with your bags ;-)

Hi Jo.
Last year we paid about £450.00 return for two of us plus car, we had an outside cabin which you need because it takes 27 hours to Corfu.
If you check minoan lines or anek lines web sites you can check the prices.
We  are trying to book a ferry at the moment for April but the prices are coming in at around £800.00.
If you are looking at going in July or August why not try a flight to Brindisi and then a ferry to Corfu which is only about 7 hours and a lot cheaper.
Hope this helps.
Barry.

It was just a thought for my 40th next year for just me and Mick. Thought it would be lovely and romantic seeing Venice then spending a couple of nights in Arillas. Strictly no kids! Was going to fly to venice instead of Corfu.

I have been looking at this for some time and recently saw an article about going by train.  Eurostar to paris, a night ion Paris to allow a days  sight seeing, train from paris to Venice, two days sightseeing and then the ferry to Corfu.  We wanted to make the journey a special holiday for my retirement and were going to drive and so to weigh up the costs for either version did all the sums and what amazed me was that by driving and taking the car on the ferry , the fery costs quoted was £778 return ,but goiing by train and travelling on the ferry as foot passengers was  almostr the same price in fact £750.  That I do not understand when comparing it with England to France ferries where foot passengers go for next to nothing compared with taking a car !!!!!  to use an Eggy saying "wotsthatalabout"
