Hello

We just got back from Arillas, stayed at the Tria Adelphia and had a wonderful time.

If you want somewhere to stay then this has to be the place, everyone there was fantastic, so friendly and nothing was to much trouble, they made us so welcome we're booking again for next year.

The accomadation we stayed in was a 2 bedroom apartment, it had everything in it that we needed and also had fantastic views over Arillas and the sea beyond from the balcony.

Phillip, Helen, Maria, Yanis and Phillips parents were lovely people and made us feel at home and as i said nothing was to much trouble for them.

The food that they make is very good and they made the best Stifado that we had in the entire holiday.

Everywhere is very clean and well looked after and its only a 15 minute walk from the town and beach which wasn't a problem for us.

I can't recommend this accomadation highly enough and if anyone is thinking of going to Arillas then you really have to stay here, it is fantastic.

Glad you had a good time. I've never seen a bad review of this place so it must have everything right.
Cheers

Tria Adelpha - another recommendation plus various ramblings

Us:2 adults, 2 kids of 6 and 9.  We visited the Tria in late August 2005 and also stayed in a new 2 bedroom maisonette. Overall impression: Excellent.

The Tria is a family business and the owners were very friendly hard-working and helpful. They said that we could post the Phone numbers so they are: +30 263 051581 (Bar) / 051241 (low season at the family home).

The apartments are on two floors. They are very roomy and were kept spotlessly clean (room cleaned most days). Towels and sheets were changed once per week.

Note that in August, the weather was hot (surprise!) and air conditioning was useful but it was charged extra at Euro 8/day.

22m (approx from memory) swimming pool is large, clean and mostly deep - superb, but we found that armbands needed for younger kids as they will wander out of the cordoned off shallow section.

Other facilities: Swings, slide, pool table,  many paperbacks, plenty of room for parking hire cars.

Food: Food was plentiful and good value in the Grill Room/Bar though we tended to go out and about.

The main town/beach is about 20 minutes walk (2 possible routes) with many eateries to choose from on the way and in town. General grocers are about 300m away from the Tria. A bright torch is useful at night.

Mozzies were a problem in the evening - we got spray and plug-ins which mostly solved the problem in our room and wore trousers in the evening. At least two people (not us) had to visit the doctor for antihistamine injections after bad reactions to the bites.

Arillas: Beach is never too crowded though lacks showers. Small waves always present. Eating places OK for value but with similar menus in the centre of town.

Out and About: Short (3km?) but very scenic walk to Agios Stephanos was enjoyed by all - head up to the clifftop chapel visible from the town.

Hire car was very useful though drive carefully on the often twisty and narrow local roads with ditches on either side. Local roads and signs can be confusing at first. Allow plenty of time for getting from Arillas to the local main road on journeys to more distant places.

Places we visited and mostly enjoyed:
Agios Georgios is about a 10 minute drive down the coast with superb large sandy beaches, snorkelling, showers and placid sea.

Follow the road south past Pagi and Prinilas switchback (exellent views) and turn towards Krini to reach the Ruined fort of Angelokastro - not at all commercialised exept for a welcome cafe at the base of the path. Climb up moderately steep path to get views over Paleokastritsa. Our youngest especially enjoyed this one.

We never reached Paleokastritsa monastery - the coastal towns below were overcrowded and full of coaches so we turned back, just too much hassle.

Sidari is most easily reached via the road north out of Arillas. Full of small bars, jewellers and shops that would not be out of place in Blackpool. Happy atmosphere and cheap shopping.

Roda has a good beach for kids - very shallow gradient though restaurants were a little more expensive for some reason.

Mount Pantokrator: Good views of island, Atmospheric monastery though many half-dressed visitors were obviously irritating those running the place. Would have liked more time to walk about on the upper parts mountan but were on a tight schedule that day.

Corfu town: General advice is to visit in evening to avoid heat and crowds. Market is expensive because of visiting cruise ships.

Aqualand: (near Agios Ioannis) : A must if you have kids or like waterslides.

Pefkos: Very pretty, but don't do it via the organised 'blue caves' trip unless you enjoy spending 6-7 hours sitting on a ferry with very little time at the destination. A much faster seacat operates out of Corfu town which we would have used had we known in advance.

I'm so glad you all enjoyed your time at Tria. We first stayed there about 11 years ago, before the bar was properly built. Since, we've been back 6 times and always are very well looked after. We'll be there again next year too. Can't wait.
