jojo, there always was a bus at about 7am which goes to Corfu Town via San Stef and Sidari. It stops opposite the Coconut Bar.  It comes back mid to late afternoon.

Only once, in 2003, I got the bus to Sidari to get cash when we were running out. Whilst I had a great chat with all and sundry in the taverna by the bus stop back, it was a waste of my day.

Now we take travellers cheques and don't run out. We change them at Olga's Travel usually. Have been rescued with a lift from friends once or twice (thanks Eggy) if we've got it wrong but HATE doing that. The loss of our ATM is painful for all of us. I'm sure other ways will be suggested on here.

Nowhere is far in Arillas, for those able to walk a few hundred yards. Tria is at the "quiet end" but truly only a short walk from the beach and seafront. It is too much for Jen these days, so we stay near the middle. Jen finds walking 200 yards a trial.

Hope this helps
Phil

Hi Jojo,

Some of the supermarkets will do 'cash back' too and you can use your cards to pay for meals.

It will probably take about 20 minutes to walk from the Tria to the seafront at a realistic walking level - it's hot so no one's rushing about!  You can break this up with stops on the way for a drink or two, if needed!

I'm sure you will all have a great time.

This new local bus service is on trial for 2 months from August 2011 joining up Agios Georgios, Arillas, Agios Stefanos and Sidari. Tickets are 1 price for 1 day (5 euros) no matter how far you go. It starts outside Costas Golden Beach Hotel and you MUST purchase your tickets BEFORE you get on the bus.
Tickets can be purchased at the hotel but should also be on sale at other establishments.
Prices are: 1 day .. 5 euros; 7-days ... 15 euros ; 14-days ... 25 euros
 TIMETABLE - Outgoing (Link for Return times)   PICK-UP POINT 1st 2nd 3rd 4th 5th LAST

Unfortunately the bus service will not go into Afionas and the nearest it goes is the corner near the old olive press on the cross-roads of the roads from Agios Georgios, Afionas and Arillas. Although this is not on the timetable the driver will stop should anyone want to alight/board here. It is not a scheduled stop as such but the drivers are aware to stop there if any customers ask request it. Anyone wishing to walk to Afionas along the ridge road could do so from the corner, (approx 3 kms), so avoiding the steep hill direct fromAgios Georgios beach.
