Hi all!!

Me and my wife are looking for a holiday this year somewhere different.
Love Greece, we go every year!!
Just looking at Arillas, is it as relaxing as i have read? We are looking at staying at the Tria Adelphie.
Is it far from beach? Up hill walk back. ( we went to Lourdas in Kefalonia last year )Steep hills!!!
The reviews i have read about the accomodation seem to be what we are looking for.
The only other problem is that we are travelling hopefully first 2 weeks of October. Is the weather ok?
And will there be places still open??
Thanks in Advance!!!
Looking forward to what will be hopefully a peaceful holiday!!

Hello keithlemon and welcome to the forum! :)

Arillas REALLY is as relaxing as you have read in this forum. There is one hill (referred to as the heart attack hill), but the way to Tria Adelphia is the other way and quite nice and mostly flat 1km to the beach.

As for the October weather I haven't got the foggiest, but I am sure there are forum members who can tell you all about it. :)

Life is good ;)

There are no guarantees about the weather in October, but we have been three times in the last week and it has always been pleasant or even summery. Rain is very possible. It can get cold (relatively! not like UK) in the evenings. We are going again this year at that time. Many places are open at the end, but everywhere will be in the first two weeks.

Philip and Eleni at Tria Adelphia are lovely hosts. Many will only stay there when in Arillas. As our Erja says, it is on a level with the beach and while at the edge of the village, not that far to walk for the reasonably mobile.

If you go, you will probably fall in love with the place and return time after time. Be warned, it is addictive. This year we will have clocked up 20 weeks there. Many have been much more than that. Good luck, and welcome to the forum.

As Phil says, the weather can be changeable but equally , it can be glorious - you never know.
The sea will still be warm enough to swim in and there will still be plenty of places open.

Enjoy.

Hi, I think you would like Tria Adelphia. It is back from the beach, but it's a very pleasant walk, which if your not in a hurry, will take around 15 mins to get to the beach.
Tria Adelphia have a nice bar and serve lovely food, so if you feel like a 'night in' (i.e. not walking to  seafront) you can enjoy your meal there.
It's not an uphill walk to get there either.
Last October, the weather was very nice. and people were still sitting on the beach, and at the pools. It's a great time of year to visit if you enjoy exploring a bit further, tho. Bicycles are avilable in the village, if you feel energetic, and it will be good walking weather. Be aware that you may experience some rain showers tho.     Enjoy.

October in Arillas
we spent a fantastic first week in October two years ago
Warm enough to sit on the beach and around the pool.
The sea was warmer than we have had in July
Warm lazzzzzzy days with cool evenings,
A little quiet but taverners still doing trade

Spent a fantastic time at the Tria in May a few years ago
Philip, Eleni are good hosts, nothing is a problem and are always pleased to see us when we call in to visit

For a first time visit you wont go wrong with your selection
BUT BE WARNED, ARILLAS IS ADICTIVE
YOU WILL BE BACK, YOU WONT BE ABLE TO RESIST IT

Welcome to the forum and ENJOY your first visit to HOME
(thats what you will get to know it as)

I really could not believe people when they said it would be addictive, how on earth could people keep returning year after year, sometimes twice a year, I thought they were mentalists!!! OMG it is a place I now crave and of course it is like going home, I just love it and would love to live there all year round.  Yes I am totally addicted and so will you be, anywhere in Arillas is great to stay, lovely welcomes are on offer from everyone!!! You will return ;-)

Knarvell you have captured my sentiments exactly!

We have visited in late August Sept or October for last 10 yrs, last year in October had best weather we had had, one day with showers, and one magnificent nightime thunderstorm that I sat on balcony and watched with a glass or two of Ouzo!
It all depends what you want, we like to visit Arillas at quieter times of year..but we come from Norfolk, more people than 50 is congestion to us.
As stated by other forum members...Arillas is addictive, prior to finding it would never have thought I would holiday in same destination twice...but when you find perfection??...

If I knew why we all go back time and time again, i`d bottle it and make a fortune!!!

What`s it`s secret - you got to go there to find out!!

We were Arillas newbies last week, stayed from 16th - 23rd May at Nikos Kokkinos. We first fell in love with Greece and its people in 1996 on our honeymoon to the Peleponnese. After some lovely trips to various parts of Greece, our last 2 trips to Zante and Rhodes were disappointing due to commercialism taking over, and we thought the Greece we loved was gone forever.....until last week.
What a wonderful place..peaceful, relaxing, traditional, friendly, wonderful food, lovely local people. Just hope Arillas can survive the recession without having to go down the route of places like Sidari, selling out to what they believe Brits want on holiday.
We had the best holiday we've had in ages, and hopefully will be returning again as soon as we've saved up some more Mythos money!
