What are we going to do?

Sara,

As you will probably guess I'm fighting my own battle with Easyjet at the moment.  They are not answering their phones, their live chat people are impotent.  I've used the facility a few times over the w/end and it's been a waste of time.

The amend button on my booking is only offering me the option of changing my flight to Manchester on the 30th.  If I want to change to Gatwick I have to pay the change of flight fee and difference in price....the problem is actually being able to contact EJ to do the change.

Live Chat told me it can only be done by calling EJ (ha, ha that's a laugh) or going to the airport.  I was then promptly cut off!

You are in a slightly more favorable position than me....it looks like you will have to take yourself down to Corfu Airport....well that's providing you can actually find someone there.  One thing's for sure...I won't be going down to Manchester just to do a flight change!

Good luck,

I'll let you know if I hear anything else.

There's just the two of us. Still trying to get answers from Easyjet's Live Chat at the moment - no 22 in the queue!!
I just can't understand why the Bristol flight's aren't showing & I have no amend tab on my bookings page.
At least we have our own place here, feel sorry for those that don't - to top it all, it's raining here this morning.

Your right Eileen, so far Live Chat has been useless for me too. I should be offered the option of a free transfer to [hopefully] next Friday or Monday's Bristol flight, but I just can't do anything, because I have no amend tab & as you say, it's no good trying to phone.
Looks like a trip to Corfu airport later, although our mutual friend Shay has offered to help me there because he doesn't live too far from the airport.
I'll let you know what develops

Hi Sara,

Poor you, it must be a glitch in the system that's done away with your amend tab....mine is still sitting there awaiting my decision.

That's nice of Shay, but knowing how frustrating it is to deal with EJet by phone/website it would be quicker to jump in your hire car if you still have it and get down to the airport.  Obviously you have more patience than me Sara :-)

No 13 in the queue - time for a quick reply to you Eileen!!!!!!!!
Shay, was just going to check for me that there were staff at the airport, before we made the trip - isn't that nice of him? We've never met, but we email each other.

I don't know if anyone saw this, but it would appear that if someone is "stuck on holiday" after going with a European airline or travel company the company with whom they booked have a duty of care to look after them...

Interesting ....

Very informative Janis. I hope all this soon finishes. I am due to fly on 7th. May. Not sure where I stand if the flight is canceled, not much info so far. Do I lose the £409 fare? or do they offer me an alternative flight when they are 'up and running' again?
My cousin and his partner are in New York at the moment and due to fly back today. They have been told they can stay in their hotel, but at extra cost to themselves, and the next alternative flight 'may' be in 6-7 days!
All a bit bizarre!
Martin.

Eileen

Martin,

As far as I am aware if a flight is cancelled you are entitled to a full refund or a change of flight free of charges...providing it is on the same route.

Eileen.

I believe that the very least you should get your money back on the ticket. As for the travel insurance covering anything, there are apparently only 3 Underwriters that pay out and so not consider this an "act of god".

Now I will wade through my travel insurance to find out who is the Underwriter and how all this will affect my holiday in Zante 23rd May :(

*deep sigh* fingers crossed that the volcano will go back to sleep!
Life is good ;)

Just listening to the local news it seems Jet2 have organised coaches to bring back their stranded customers in Spain and Portugal and expect everyone to be home within the next 24 hours. Too much , I guess, to hope for Easyjet to do the same!

It's all very worrying, I must admit, and I hope that it all gets sorted soon

Just seen on BBC news that Scottish airspace is due to open at 07:00 and all Scottish airports will be open. Obviously there will still be a lot of destinations not available but it's a sign of hope for those due to go soon and the poor souls stuck elsewhere. Let's hope it's not a false dawn and other places will be able to re-open.
