I have to put this in my "memory bank", but if I see my Greek neighbour in the next few days I'll ask him to check his Greek telephone directory out.

I wanted to thank you again, I have called numerous places in Corfu and no body could find the number.

Since you are a resourceful woman, do you have any suggestions for a nice place? I don't need anything to crazy but I would like a nice hall. I contacted Corfu Palace but they are very steep and the photos of the site does not look worth the price.

If you have any ideas it will be greatly appreciated

From a stressed out I guess future Bridezilla LOL

Has it got to be Coffu Town?
You can "take over" many Tavernas in and around Arillas for an afternoon.

Neggs-It's very debatable about having the brain of a NASA computer but I've sure been wired to the moon a few times!!!

Well Bridezilla - I've got to say I agree with Eggy about having your 'do' in or around Arillas.

You might be determined to organise it  yourself - and there's no reason why not...but if you want to make as stress free as possible you really couldn't do any better than to have your big day organised by a local company with vast knowledge of the area and in arranging weddings.

http://www.san-stefano.gr/weddings.php

The above company are well placed for suggesting venues for your party, but if you want our opinion do you have any idea yet of numbers attending?  It will help to narrow down the list.

You may already be aware of this but you can only have Catholic or Anglican weddings in Corfu Town - a civil wedding in the Town Hall in Corfu town or the town hall closest to where you are staying, which for Arillas would be Velonades.  Orthodox Church weddings can only be arranged if either the bride or groom is Orthodox and that both have been baptized.

As you are probably aware there is a large amount of paperwork to get through before the big day and this is where San Stefano Travel would come in handy, for instance organising 'approved' translators for the documents.

If you decide to use San Stefano travel for your arrangements and a civil ceremony in Velonades ask for the ceremony to be held in the little square outside the hall near the little church.

Hope this helps a little,

Eileen

Hey

Corfu Town was where I was hoping because of the scenery, but if I can find a nice place not with reach  from the town it’s also good because I can just go to the town to take photos.

My husband to be has family there and around Greece so we are average about 100 guess come from around Greece

I am going to check out the place you suggested and see what the fees are. Some other wedding planner I called wanted over 3000 Euros just to plan it! that too much money for me! I can pay for the most glamous flower for that price!

Nggs if you have any tavernas in mind let me know

Thanks

lala,

I have absolutely no idea where you could hold your wedding in Corfu town as I don't know it well enough so I'm afraid I can't help you there.

As for the party in Arillas itself I reckon you would need to 'take over' a favourite restaurant or hotel in order to cater for such a large number of guests.  Not so easy for hotel owners who also have to cater for their pre-booked tour operator guests.

The Thalassa has a fairly large floor space which after dinner could be cleared to make room for dancing.

A little further away there is the new restaurant up in Afionas called the Porto Timoni.  Absolutely fantastic setting, again like the Thalassa I'm sure tables could be cleared to make space for dancing.  Unlike the Thalassa the Porto Timoni has lovely guest rooms upstairs which could be doubled up as a brides retreat cum changing room.  http://www.agiosgeorgios.co.uk/kostas.htm

I imagine one of the things you need to take into account is the toilet facilities for 100 guests...do the restaurants have enough?  You know how us women like to take time to preen ourselves and touch up our makeup at weddings!

Over the last few years we have had quite a few wedding parties stay at our place and all have held their weddings in San Stefanos...I'm not sure why but I'm guessing that it's because there are venues there which can comfortably accommodate large parties.

I've also heard that the Panorama restaurant at Peroulades caters for wedding parties.  Again it's in a fantastic location.... http://www.panoramarest.gr/index.html

Maybe I've picked up your post wrong but if you decide to marry and have the ceremony up on the North West it would take up quite a chunk of your day to go over to Corfu town to have your photographs taken.

Don't forget to forward this forum's Business Pages onto your guests so that they can choose to stay in the many apartments and hotels offered independently by local residents.  http://www.arillas.com/page/en/mtree/
