the euro and greece

how expensive are things (drink,food,etc) now that the euro is so low.is greece still good value for the money?

For those living here there's been an increase in some Supermarket prices, but that happens everywhere.
(Heating Oil has actually dropped from 0.82/litre last year to 0.58 now - was as low as 0.50 about six weeks ago)

I don't think there's a massive increase, if any, in Taverna prices for food and drink but.... the exchange rate will mean, for  us "sterling exchangers" an extra 30% increase from last year.

Still good value for money though.

eg. Last night I had a mixed grill with chips n salad and friends had a steak, Bifteki, a special souvlaki ( Giant thing ) and a small souvlaki and chips for a youngun.
Plus enough Garlic bread for 5 and 3 retsina's, a coke and a mythos.
55 euros the lot.
(We were so pleased with the quality of food we took home what we couldn't eat)
Never be afraid to ask as many Tavernas do serve large portions.

Ammos is my absolute favourite place to be early evening, large glass of dry white wine and watching the sunset, nibbling a few strawberries or cherries on ice, or even a few crinkle cut crisps.... Absolute heaven! Love it so much I joined as a fan on Facebook!
Might just try in a morning as well, though..

Janis that's exactly my favourite place and way to start the evening too!  I'm in heaven just thinking about it.  The only problem is that I've just got to have another sparkling wine...accompanied with another glass fruit on crushed ice...then of course I don't feel like eating!!! Naughty, naughty me!!

Oh, Eileen - I wish I could be like you! Well, I am with the drinking bit, but I always still want to eat!  (I lost a couple of stone for my daugher's wedding in June last year, but have put most of it back on! I wanted to lose it before Arillas, but that certainly ain't gonna happen!)

We were in the 3Ws in St Steph today.

Amstel Large bottle 2 Euros, Ouzo 1.50 Euros.

We have been averaging about 10 Euros per person per meal for party of 7 with 3 young children. We dont stint on food or drink for that and have 3 courses as well as lots of house white.

We have had one meal in Arillas that was double that though so beware if you are budget concious.

Weathers great now. We have had a lovely time the last few days. Met new people, tried new places and not been disappointed.

Even played darts!

St. Steph beach has been fabulous. Arillas beach still hadnt been cleared of weed this morning.

Weve used our pool quite a lot this time round. Mandy has it just about to tepid bath heat.

We have a whole lot of chicken on the bar-b-que right now and I have just emptied my glass of Pims. So long for now!

I didn't find prices themselves any more expensive this year....the exchange rate may make it feel more! My dad and I spent 20 euros for the whole evening at Night Owl.....for that, we were well fed and "watered".
