JUST AWOKE TO THE NEWS XL HAVE GONE INTO LIQUIDATION...

vivian

Hi Kes, Joe told us this bad news last night, when from what Ihear they were still taking bookings.
He has put al the advise he can about refunds and other flights on his post.
Were you flying XL?
Hope we dont have to many forum members booked with them ( or worse wanting to leave Arillas and get back to work). Viv

Hi, I've booked to come with xl twice next year, I am really pisseed off because I booked on the 7th September. Fortunately I've booked through an ABTA travel agency and decided not to book direct so hopefully I'll get my deposit back. I can't believe that they've taken my money so close to going out of business.

I hope you manage to get a refund.  You'll have to keep us informed as to who you will be flying with?
I haven't booked yet

Will do Raff, No doubt Emily will keep Abbie informed on MSN. The worst part is, my Mom is 60 next year and I've booked for her and her mates and us four to go over for a week as well as the two weeks in August.

Hi - I was due to fly on Monday from Belfast with XL for two weeks...hmmm...  My ex-fiance had paid a package with Thomas Cook and they were using XL.  He is going to try and get a refund when he can get to a phone later.

I have someone who has offered to pay for me to get there, but then I am wondering about the accommodation that I have book - Kokinos Apartments

Eggy - do you know a contact number for Kokinos so that I can call them and still use the accommodation that was booked please?  I only have net access until 3pm British time, so here goes nothing giving out my mobile number - 07984 184569 - if you could let me know or if anyone could let me know.  I will reimburse call charges.

I am gutted - this was my holiday to help me deal with the calling off of my wedding later this year...

ggrrr at XL!!!

I've just heard from my bank who have said that as I paid with my credit card I will get my money back from them for the August holiday that I've paid for, however I will have to wait 45 days before I can make a claim. I paid cash for the may holiday to Arillas and so I have to go through ABTA, I've no idea how long that process will take.

Good bit of advice there, always pay by credit card you can get the money back that way, but not if you pay on a debit card.

Not to trivialise the poor people who have lost vast amounts due to this situation, we were delayed 16 hours coming back this year with xl.  Checking my travel insurance, I was entitled to £25 per person so was looking forward to £125 which would pay my deposit for next year's accomm. Unfortunately Xl passed the buck to Air Malta, they have not respondet to any letters, emails so looks like we will get sweet FA as insurance say they need letter from airline stating reason for delay. Insurance companies will do anything to wriggle out of paying out. aarrrgghh!

Jo tell me about it! We are still waiting for Air Malta to confirm our delay so that we can claim on travel insurance.... so far nowt! Were you on the same flight as us Aug 2nd from Manchester?
