Dogs

When staying on other Greek islands, I've noticed that the locals do like a barking dog, or at least they make no effort to shut the bugg*r up.

Is Arillas plagued by yapping muts ?

We had one barking in the motorbike shop opposite the Galini a couple of years ago.  I must admit that I did feel like going out and taping its mouth up.

The other thing that you can hear are the frogs.  There is a stream (when its not dried up) that runs through Arillas and you can hear the frog chorus very clearly!

There are always a few dogs around but in all the years I've stayed in Arillas, their barking has never been a major problem. You may well hear the odd donkey or cockerel though!

Arillas is what it is!! dogs and all, just be mindfull that the most of the dogs that mooch around the front all belong and are well cared for by thier owners..who also own and run the hotels and tavernas and look after and care for us very well indeed.

I have to say when we go to arillas all we heard was the donkey and cockeral too. We're moving there soon and the population of dogs will go up by 3, but then we like it there because not many dogs roam free and the few that do are owned and cared for.

Hi Paul

just realised that your shady mut looks a lot like Giannis and Litsa's (Thalassa) lovely dog. If it is, his name is Charley. And he is a darling...

Agree Lou and all. Arillas is not a noisy place. But the lovely sound of cicadas makes it special for me.

A lovely dog indeed. Not sure if that`s him in the picture though. If I recall, Charly was abandoned in a box, and found by Yiannis.

BG - Jen and me weren't sure. Looked too dark brown but thought maybe the shade made him look darker. Charley sat by Jen's feet in Thalassa most afternoons last week of October last year.

Mythos, lovely conversations with Yannis Litsa and Spiros, stroking Charley, puzzle book, oh dear, I'm off again...

And 88 days to wait...

Back to the subject matter, I dont think there are enough dogs to cause any trouble to anyone in Arillas. All the ones I have met are lovely and placid and rather timid actually. And no, I have not heard much barking or I have been way too chilled to care :)
