Just booked Makris for two weeks 15th-30th July with Thomas Cook £608 !!!!!! for two of us......... so cheap I put extra luggage and meals on as well, so thats 1 week 30th May 2weeks July so now looking for Sept- Oct    Yipeeeee so happy

Hi Val, Glad you got booked in. Its the first time we have done package since 2004 but they are so cheap at the moment. £544 for both of us including luggage & meals.
Certainly worth getting an extra visit in, even tough there are lots of places you can stay independently. Whoops dont want to start the old thread for and against it just that it will servw us well for October this year. Viv

Hi Viv You're right... at those prices we just had to book package. We could not get flights for July at a reasonable price so thought we would have to wait until October, we couldn't book when the cheaper flights were on offer because Bill didn't know if he could get leave from work. So getting TWO weeks for £608 is good for us but we WILL be spending twice as much money  around Arillas  eating and drinking because  we were originally just looking at one week, not really helping the independent properties I know.... but I am telling myself it's the whole of Arillas that matters.
I can't believe what the flights were costing for July/Aug when most families want to go.
I feel so sorry for them. If the cheap packages bring more people it can only do good.

There'll be quite a few of us there in July, including yous two ValnBill. We're from 11th to 29th, staying at Bardis Studios. Bobby has booked us a ground floor studio so Jen won't have to struggle with stairs/hills etc. Hope to meet yous two and many other forum folk around and about. You can easily recognise us - white haired old boy arm in arm with waist length brown hair, wobbling around the village. (We walk better after  few in the Nut...) Just say hello!

We are so looking forward to it. Only 187 sleeps to wait.....

As for package/independent we've done both. With deals like we're seeing now, we would grab them like we did in October 2009.

Just a thought:
Maybe Arillas was so quiet in 2010 because of the
package/independant issue?

The Scandinavian agency Star Tour used to have Horizon Hotel when I
first visited in May 2007. When they decided to go independant I just
booked directly, it was quite easy and the price wasn't any different.

Hotels probably earn more money without the travel-agencies, but maybe
the agencies are needed to get the tourists coming?
Some people don't feel comfortable by going independant and therefor end
up chosing other destinations. Well, it was just a thought.

Debbie, Lee luvvers the Marvel is a lovely place to spend your time. Beautiful pool, lovely hosts. Situated right in the middle of things. The best authentic Corfiot food just down the road at Brouklis. Even my wobbly Jen can get everywhere from there. So glad you chose Arillas again. It is heaven on earth.

Couldn't find this thread when i booked but not to worry its Dionysos for us August 15th for 2 weeks,
Like Viv says there are some good deals around,this year we fly from Manchester with Thomas Cook which is £120 cheaper than last year
The difference between Thomas Cook and Thomsons this year for the same dates but different apartments obviously is a whopping £358 so Thomas Cook won our custom hands down and we were fancying the Rainbow complex after walking past a couple of times last year

6th June to 20th this year, staying at Nafsiki.  We normally prefer to book independant with Bardis Sun, but this year funds are low and we shall need an extra room to combat snoring problems we both have.  Thomas Cook deal was good, so we have gone for it!

So glad you're booked. Ironically we will be doing just that - independent at Bardis Sun! Bobby has guaranteed us a ground floor studio (Jen even finds stairs a problem these days.)
