Arillas today is a little cooler, about 27C. Quite a strong breeze. Spiros at Bar is says storms are forecast for tonight into Friday. Pedro has removed his pedalos and sunbeds off the beach so could be some truth in the forecast. We will just wait and see. Must go as my lunch has arrived. Always eating.
Cheers Alan

Hope it's not going to arrive at the same time as us.

Well we have been back a few days now (Steve insists just visiting England until we go back home) and are really missing Arillas. Had a wonderful time meeting old friends and making new ones. There never seems enough time to do what we plan, we were quite lazy spending a lot of time on the beach, but there is always next time. The Mathraki never disappoints and the whole family gives such a warm welcome to all.
Neill sorry we missed saying goodbye but Sunday afternoons were spent in the Malibu watching F1 and drinking (enjoyed the cocktails). Great fun was had at the darts in the  Rainbow and Armourada. Shame we could not make it to the Tria too but went with Val and Geoff to Senan and Jean's for a BBQ . Super night and good company.
Looking forward to meeting you all again in July and thank you Arillas for another wonderful visit.

Arillas this morning is very grey, wet and decidedly windswept. The storm hit at 8 last night. Watching it approach from the south was like something out of a science fiction film with continual lightning flashing through the thunder clouds.
Been on a quick walk down to Amos for my morning coffee. Very little beach now both north and south of the jetty. Sitting on our bench not recommended this morning. The waves of the wild sea are starting about 200 metres out. According to Spiros the weather could be stormy into Saturday.
Will keep you all updated.

Arillas this morning is sunshine and showers with a strong breeze. The sea is still rough but a bit more beach near the jetty. Lots of seaweed in the huge waves south of the jetty. Doing the loop had to duck into the bakery to avoid a sharp shower. Coffee and chocalate croissants to pass the time.
Sharon,s is closed for the second day. Everyone seems to making the best of it even the nutters attempting to swim in the heavy sea.
Back to the UK on Monday so this may be my last little missive. But must say both of us have had lots of everything. Lots of ambling around, lots of good food, lots of vino, lots of relaxing but most of all lots of fun.

Have to agree with Alan and Jan, storm was horrendous. Just sat in Horizon watching the waves and enjoying a latte.
We are here until Friday and loving every minuet of it.

I think we are another convert!!! Been going to Zante in May for many years and Corfu Acharavi in Sept for the last three years.

Defo going to book Kaloudis for next May and probably Sept as well.

Sad to say Zante does seem to be going downhill for the last couple of years so time for a change again

One think I have noticed here no street sellers that used to be such a nuisance in Zate although to be be fair they did go away when you said a polite no but there were just so many of them. Only seen one here so far and been here a week already and it's passed too quick.

Just had a laugh seeing Billy on his bike with his dog sat in front of him with paws on the handlebars!!

Right sun coming out now but still very windy so of for another walk.

Hi Spring 65. Glad you enjoyed. Must say I agree about Zante we went in Aug to Tsilivi and every restaurant the owners tried to drag you in and loads of boat trip sellers doing the same. Got on my wick. To be honest in 13 yrs of visiting Arillas it was only the guy at Graziella that used to do that which is why we never ate there.

daisyday

Haha Jo, exactly!  We have never eaten at Grazielas, although we have read good reviews on here, particularly because they pester you!  I loved the laid back feel of Arillas and being able to look at a menu, special of the day without being pestered.

Is Graziela's owned by "foreigners" - by that I mean non-Greek!

Truth

I think the only time we got even asked to go in a restaurant was the last one on the seafront just as you turn up tn Bardis Sun! Can't think where Graziellas is??

Blimey i hate that don't you....... that is one thing I detested about Turkey - every single place trying to get you inside....grrrr

I think you should try Gratziellas their set menu is terrific value.

Tomas is always very welcoming and the service is superb - nothing is too much trouble. Barry and I always love to see him waiting outside the taverna to greet you. He is always polite with a ready smile and a handshake even if you aren't dining.

I don't think I could compare him with some of the bar owners I've met in Turkey.... THEY do pester!  He has a lovely smile and impeccible manners:-) Maybe people aren't used to being approached in such an open friendly way but he won't mind if you say you are eating somewhere else and are just out for a stroll.

Wish I was going to share a table with some dear friends in September but can't do it this year. The stuffed tomato and sea bass is out of this world. It's a lovely place to watch the sunset too.

Cheers Nan xx
