Geoffrey with a "G"

I first saw the fireflies in late May, when walking back to Arillas from San Stefanos, and then later, when walking from Arillas back to Magoulades, when they were like tiny galaxies of stars, circling before landing on earth. Fantastic.

Not exactly Arillas today, but Arillas last Saturday. We had a lovely afternoon out riding our bikes. We stopped & chatted to Dimitris who was busy getting Brouklis ready for you all! Next we walked rather than rode, up the donkey track which sadly has disappeared even more this year. We passed Nikos' big secret which is going to be stunning....that's all I'm saying :) We called in to say "hello" to Kostas, who was stocking up his supermarket, passed the brewery :) & then took the road which comes out behind the Galini. Next we walked up the VERY steep road, passing Villa Linakis...... I honestly didn't think I was going to make it to the end of that road!!! by now my legs had turned into jelly.

Here are a few photo's taken on our way. The wildflowers & trees are just so beautiful.

The Judas tree's are so pretty.

You'll be pleased to know that the brewery was looking well stocked :)

The next few photo's were taken yesterday. Gravia still hasn't moved Phil!

The view from Makrades. Unfortunately we were too late for the sunset, but the view was still incredible. Next we stopped for a drink in Pagi & we sat outside where James Bond had sat in 1981...Lol.

The festival at Krini. The whole village & many people from the surrounding villages had turned out & it was a great night, with even more fireworks.

Great pictures Sara. I particularly like the Judas trees at this time of year....all along the road from Corfu town. Sadly I expect they will be past their best by the time I get there this year.

Thanks for all those wonderful photos Sara. I am getting quite jealous, I hope all those flowers will still be in bloom when I arrive on 7th. May! Got my new camera to try to capture Arillas in Spring!
I will always remember the first time my wife and I visited Arillas in May. We had been for a meal at Thomas Vavalis' Taverna, and after he meal we walked back to the Bardis Sun Hotel along a road illuminated by millions of fire flies. It was almost surreal, like a clip from Disney. Road, bushes, fields amass with the tiny creatures. Picked a few up and watched them 'blink' in the palm of my hand. A fantastic sight I will never forget. Looking forward to this May, they have never let me down! Wonderful memories.
Yammas,
Martin.
