Maggie , the more input to "Arillas Today" is always welcome.

Vivian - No fireflies yet but the old "hooters" been happening recently and the frogs like to croak away, about 1 a.m and the birds like to wake you at 5 am and the swallows continue to try and take over your balcony.
Ah ! - The joys of country living.

Arillas today , and all looks good for the Greek Easter weekend. Dry, sunny and 19 deg in the shade. Very pleased for all our Greek friends as they all have really earnt a relaxing break after the work they've put in over the Winter. Many a lamb will be on the spit on Sunday, pork n Chicken n souvlakis on the barbi's , bit o music and family get togethers. Much well earned enjoyment will be had by all.

The changing face of Arillas beach for you:-

And, this is the veiw that Sandy is looking forward too when she arrives on Saturday.

Villa looking good Sandy.

Finally , one for Terry. A photo from our balcony which became our painting.

Not taken at the same angle and not on zoom but gives you an idea.

Jean's prices are very good. Don't forget that these are "originals" and she will take any commision given to her. Someone recenty asked on here about Arillas veiws.
Just tell her what you would like. ( Then take it home and put in pride of place! )

Cheers
Negg

Sorry Folks!
I suppose it it'sown way it could be a small part of Arillas Today.

I just had to paste in this e-mail from our UK pals who live in Amenades.
This was his answer to our question about the 23rd April being a festival day:-
__________________________________________________________________

Hiya Wendy ( & Neill),
Guess I'll have to answer 'cos Blondie's in the bath!
According to our 'Little Book of Festivals' the 23rd is the Feast of St George (Ayeos Yeoryios), the patron of shepherds, and to quote ' is a big rural celebration with much dancing and feasting at associated shrines and towns'.  It aso coincides with the day that village people from Kavadades and Armenades tie a sacrifice to the front of an accident-damaged car (the victim is usually the driver of such vehicle), douse him with ouzo and then throw darts at the metal of the car, thus producing a spark and igniting the poor old sod!  This is known locally as the 'Fried Eggi Day' and is accompanied by much merrymaking  by the male population, and bawdy behavior by the females.  Roll on 23rd then!
'Spose you know now why I'm not allowed near the computor.

Paul.

Thanks for taking the photo of the view from your balcony, Neil.

I am now, even more impressed by Jeans painting and I love the way the buildings are highlighted and especially the coloured roof tiles.

Quote'Fried Eggi Day

Love it - really funny and I feel a picture coming on

justphil

Thanks for the lovely pics. As usual a great boost to justphil-today...

As for Fried Eggi Day, like viv, I was in tears of laughter. Absolutely hilarious post. Let he who is without ouzo cast the first dart... I'm at the front of the queue!

All the best
Phil

Maggie

Sara,I'm not there yet. Our neighbour e-mailed me the picture she took of our garden yesterday. It's so nice I had to share it.

riggers

Wow things are looking good Eggy, Great pics and yours too Maggie.......Thanks for Pauls e-mail, very funny but can we fry you up after June .Lol i need a drinking partner.........:)

Take care mate..........

riggers..........

justphil

riggers mate, if anyone is going to fry him I am. Let he who is without ouzo cast the first dart... Like I said I'm first in the queue! I drink Mythos and vodka.

For Eggy I can only say "Hello DAD" you knew I'd take revenge!!

Is this a dart I see before me
The flights toward my hand?

Come let me clutch thee -
I have thee not
but yet I love thee still.

I make it all the battle
and 3W's do us ill
Amourada win the squirmish
but Mon Amour just have the will.

It is the bloody business
which informs thus to mine eyes?
The darts league is all at one
with victory in its eyes?

A pug and our Troumpeta
make soft fried eggs the prize
but Arillas is the place
where my silly, soft heart lies...

Sorry William (and Eggy and all)
Phil

Like it Phil - a bit of Culture at last. But it begs the question as to who the 3 hags are?? And what about the dog (Out damn Spot - out I say!)
My favourite was always the one I had to learn in school detention, the Soliloquy before the battle of Agincourt - you know :-

Once more unto the beach dear friends, once more.
Or close the bar up with our English dead.
In time of winter there is nothing so becomes a man as modest stillness and sobriety,
But, when the blast of Summer appears in the skys
Then imitate the actions of a tourist,
Stiffen up the drinking arm,
Summon up the barman,
Disguise fair nature with hard-drinking ways.
Then lend the eye a terrible wink,
Let it twinkle like the Corfiot night,
Let the South Beach be the prize
As we give them all a terrible fright,
..............
And cry God for Corfu, Arillas, and St George!

Home is where the heart is - CORFU :-)

That brought back memories.....did Henry V for O level but prefer your version!
