Portofino

Could any tell me if Spiro and his family are all OK.  We stayed at the Portofino for 6 years on the trot and became good friends with them all, Yanni even came and stayed with us in england for a week, however we seem to never be able to contact them recently.  We are coming back to Arilas next August and it would be great to know that they are still there.  I look forward to any replies.  Thanks

You will be pleased to know that Spiro and Yannis are very well   They have both been busy making changes to the Portofino, it is looking very smart and fresh.

So that you can see for yourself how well they are I will now email you a couple of photos taken a few weeks ago.

Yannis is the only one working with his Dad at Portofino now although his girlfriend spends the season over there also and helps out. We have been good friends with Spiro and his family for the last 9 years and keep in regular contact with them all.  Alkiss moved to New York a few years ago now with his mum and believe it or not he is working hard.  Vicky, Yannis and George are aslo living over in New York now but I think they are hoping to move back to Arillas next year.  I have Spiros number if you would like it.

Portofino certainly has been re-vamped. I still remembered it as the "American Snack Bar" but not any more. Certainly no complaints with food. "Grandma's Lamb" very tasty. Very good service from John ( Yianni ) Excellant sense of humour with Spiros. Worth a try.

just like to echo that portofino still fabulous place to eat and spiros in fine form ("holy macaroni !!")

Yanni has been starting a web site for the last 4 years and we are still waiting to see it materialise.  Think he is happier waiting than cooking

Our Grandson now says "holy macaroni" after everything, at least that is all he says after being around Spiro.
