There's a deal locally of 10p a minute from Greece on a phone card.
Thinking about getting one for a tenner, but don't know if there's many places to use one in Arillas.
We usually text home. You know the routine. "We've landed"  "Your Dad hasn't put enough cream on and he's burnt his back!"  "Check that I've locked the back door!"  etc.

So. Should we buy a card?

Hi we normaly buy a phone card from Alex's and use the phone that is located outside.  Used my mobile previously and the phone bill was unbelievable.

Love the picture of the lighthouse, we live in Cullercoats

We usually use phone cards and they last surprisingly for some time.. two quick calls to the kids and mum and dad to say all ok etc.. much cheaper than mobiles.

We were on a beach in Samos one year and a phone call home cost £13.00!!!!  Never again!

I bought a phone card from the Armourada supermarket last year for 5 euros and it seemed to last ages....made loads of quite long calls to the UK using it.

Thanks for that.
We'll get one this afternoon as we're going on monday morning before the shops open.

Due to the extraordinary ability of a very close relative in faffing about, the place selling the cards was shut when she got there.
In order to maintain marital balance I should say that I made a last minute visit to my allotment to plant a pot of leeks and as I arrived the leeks remained in the kitchen!
I may have remarked "goodness me that is a bother!"

Is it any cheaper using a phone card to telephone a uk mobile number than it would be mobile to mobile.

Im on T.mobile ans mine is £1.40 per min to any network. S.M.S. to UK is 40p and £1.30 to recieve a call. It dosent cost torecieve a S.M.S. so if you dont really need to talk to the person its not to bad. Dont know how much it cost from a phone box. Viv

I'm on Vodafone and I have signed up for the passport offer.  All calls to England only cost 50p connection.

Yes same here. If I was to phone my Mum she would panic thinking something had happened.

I rang my Mum tp let her know that Gillian & David had arrived safely, and all she could say is put the phone down this must be costing a fourtune, then she went.
Mike and Jill 50p connection but hoe much a min after? Viv

If you're on Vodafone Passport, you pay 50p to make the call, then the minutes come out of your allowance of however many minutes you pay for on the contract or the credit you have on PAYGo.  The call shouldn't cost you any more than the 50p, providing you still have credit!!

Wish I was still with Vodafone, but I changed to Three and they don't have any good overseas offers.  However I do get 600 minutes and 2000 texts a month for £15 when at home!
