I think she's in for a cracker of a time especially weather wise. I was in Corfu Town this morning & around 11:30 it must have been at least 30 deg.
(35.4 outside now as I type) No sign of rain the next few days either.
I never thought I would wish for a bit of rain. Thinking of alternative ways how to water the Tomatoes. ( May have to do it when it's dark though!)

My sister lives in Australia and they keep a large bucket in the shower (bit of a nuisance but a good way of recycling water) and collect all the drips and use it in the garden. they do tend to have bigger, posher showers out there though.

Good Idea Sandy.
Because the water pressure fluctuates here quite a bit and,so we're told, can be off for up to 3/4 days, we've just had a 2000 litre tank/pump installed.
Also, and I didn't know this at the time, we are on a water meter. So alternative ways to water the garden is a must. We've also invested in a plastic bowl for the kitchen sink and utility room. It's amazing the water wastage you get fom just washing hands or cup etc.  Don't take water for granted Folks - Times are changing.
Cheers

That's very interesting Eggy...now tell me before I kill all my plants off...is it o.k to water them with soapy water?

Yes, I think we should all keep an eye on how much water we use wherever we are.  Having said that, if you saw the water swilling around in Sheffield tonight (the roads are still grid-locked as I write at 11pm due to severe flooding all over the city) you would never use the word shortage!!
What a change from our two wonderfully hot and rain free weeks in Arillas and what a shock to the system!!

Ive just been looking at the pictures in the paper of the helicopter rescues from roofs of houses in Sheffield and surrounding counties, the flooding is really bad up North, they also said that we can expect another 13 days of rain up until the 8th July and if it continues to mid July then that will mean the whole summer will be a washout, oh joy!!

Shuey

That is not good news - 13 more days of rain.
It is like winters day in Norwich today.  It is really windy but at least it is not raining!!

Cheryl2307

The BBC monthly outlook is really bad, they have even forecast frosty nights - hope it's wrong!  I've been so cold at home have had central heating on and my open fire going.  Tiz just pants and all wrong, wish I lived in Arillas!

Hi all

Im here, up in south yorkshire, got caught up in all the floods.  Can not get to work today (shame) all the routes, whichever I take, are flooded.
The M1 is closed off at junction 31 to 34.  The meadowhall shopping mall is two feet under water.  Sheffield is in a real state, unbelievable really.

Roll on Friday for some dry weather.

It is unbelieveable isnt it, i shall keep my fingers crossed for you that the roads to get to the airport on Friday are all clear, we dont want any hold ups delaying you from getting to Arillas :-) !

Janis

My daughter went to an Aerosmith concert in London at the weekend, left London yesterday around 4pm and didn't get back to her home in Leeds until just after midnight! All due to flooding on the M1....
I'll bet Arillas would be horrific, though, if the weather got so bad there..
Wish I was there, sun or rain!
Oh you lucky people

Eggy

5 o'clock here in Kavvadades. Current temp is 38.7 on the balcony. There's a slight breeze in Arillas which cools it down a little.

Eileen - I think we can use soapy water for plants. We'll soon find out here.

Eggy

Smiffy - 5.15 and now 39.7 deg. Pure Bliss is ok in small doses.
Wanna swap for a bit of rain??

Oh how I wished I was there Neill, it's really quite  chilly here just now.

Talking about plants, maybe you can keep us updated with your success and failures, even a pic or two to keep us going through the winter?
