hey TTT,

one thing for sure, all the information on arillas and surrounding areas is on here.  I'm sure you'll love your stay in Corfu as much as we did.

You will love the Galini... we were there at the end of June for 2 weeks.  There was a great crowd of people we met too which made it even nicer...  The studios are great, very clean, pool great, bakery and supermarket few yards away.  The motorbike workshop is opposite but didnt hear any noise.  The only noise was from the frogs and toads in the nearby river which sets the dogs off.  We hope to get there again in October.  You will have a great time I am sure.  If I can find out how you do it I can add some photos here otherwise I can email you some of the area.

Hi TTT,

How you find Arillas depends on where you've been before in Greece. If you've been to the usual UK tourist destinations like those found on Crete and Rhodes you'll find Arillas quiet. If you've been further afield like Amorgos, Milos etc you'll find Arillas quite commercialised. I like Arillas but to be honest could do without the two music bars which I find rather noisy - I wouldn't pay to stay within earshot of either of these. Still, Arillas is big enough to get away from the noise and find some authentic Greek hospitality but it is a little overrun with "Greek nights" which are purely tourist attractions and not what you find in less commercialised areas. What Arillas does offer is something for everyone and most of the tavernas I visited provided excellent meals. I'm sure you'll enjoy yourselves.

Agree with Ianto...  The greek nights are great for a couple of holidays but then they do get a bit tedious because it is too touristy.  They seem to end up with belly dancing and the men taking their shirts off.  Not our cup of tea or Mataxa!.  The best greek night we went to was in Crete when the touristy bit finished, the majority of people have gone and the locals stay on and even get their sons dancing too.  Its a real pleasure to watch the fathers encouraging their sons in carrying out the old traditional dancing.  As for plate smashing, well that doesnt really happen either unless you are in the most touristy of places.  We liked Arillas because of the lack of nightclubs... we skirted around the music bars pretty quickly.  Staying at the Galini was great because it was far enough away not to hear it all.  I understand if you stayed opposite it could be a nightmare! But we were always back at the Galini at least by midnight so didnt really see what went on down there anyway.  I think you will enjoy Arillas and you can still go inland to the little villages for the 'real Greece'.
