UK nationals are required to have a valid ETIAS travel authorisation if they travel to any of the European countries requiring ETIAS for a short-term stay (90 days in any 180-day period).

Time for me to apply for my Irish passport I think n then won't need one as will have EU passport.  I was born in N.Ireland so can apply. My son already has one before me! When he went to Corfu in the summer with us he didn't have to have his passport date stamped when he arrived and left Corfu.

With respect that sounds like "nose off to spite face"
Arillas without you is like a toe without a toenail.
(Would have said Big Toe but Viv is in the big toe spot at the mo)

Hi
Think you are refering to the new rules, which have started, that apply to people entering the UK. Not UK citizens though and a few other exceptions. This is the ETA

ETIAS which you will need to enter the EU has yet to start. Currently no start date

EES which will precede ETIAS will require you to  to provide your personal data. Passport control officers will scan your fingerprints or take a photo of your face. This information will be recorded in a digital file. No more stamping of passport.
The machines to record EES data were already in place at Corfu airport in September 2024

Once this has started ETIAS will be introduced within a few months

Hi
Update on the ETA
The UK Government recently announced that it intends to increase the cost of Electronic Travel Authorisations (ETAs) from £10 to £16, representing a significant 60 percent hike.

The ETA applies to people entering the UK people entering the UK. Not UK citizens though + a few other exceptions.

The announcement is part of a broader initiative to reduce the migration and borders system's dependence on taxpayer funding.

Hi
Currently nothing.
EES which has no official start date, though is reported to June, means when you arrive fingerprinting and facial id will be taken .You have to do nothing other than present your passport as you enter the EU.Once you have had your profile registered your passport will no longer be stamped entering or leaving the EU
Corfu airport had the necessary scanners installed when we were there in September.

ETIAS will start about 6 months later which will involve completing an online form before leaving the UK to gain entry into the EU

If you look at my previous posts on these changes all will be made clear
