Mathraki and Tui 2020
« on: June 28, 2020, 04:20:30 PM »
So Mathraki no longer has a contract with Tui for 2020 (THIS year).

Can anybody confirm:

Did Tui cancel the contract, or did Mathraki?

Thanks

Had email from Emmie today.
It appears that TUI ended the contract

Thank you.

Yes, just seen this on Mathraki FB page:

For any confusion, TUI terminated the contract with Mathraki. We would not be able to terminate a contract. This is all recent news and we are sure TUI will be in contact but we wanted to let you know as with current circumstances it could be while before TUI contact you.

Hi
Contacted TUI today and asked when are we going to be told about our Sept stay at the Mathraki has been cancelled.

They said if your holiday has been cancelled you will be told after the July / August coronvirus  cancellations world wide  have been informed. We are  only working  in date order  of cancellations at present.
Agreed that is fair  but said its not because of the virus its been cancelled. No comment forthcoming.

Will wait and see

Geoff

Have you considered booking your own flights for September.

I'm sure Emmie will keep your room available for your original booking & I presume you have booked independently for next Year.

There are some good flight deals at present - I guess you'd need confirmation of cancellation from TUI before booking though?

Good Luck

Neil & Jill

Hi
The problem  with us are Val's medical issues. One of which is asthma. To wear a face mask at Gatwick, on the plane and  at Corfu could add to 8 hrs wearing a mask until you leave the airport,  and even then another hour in the taxi. She cant cope easily  with that and and starts coughing.

She has had a cough ( the same one) for over two years which is agrevated by the asthma / mask.
She gets lots of black looks when she starts to cough in queues at supermarkets etc

We were going to go, as she can get an exception from wearing a mask, but whether that would be accepted by the airports, the plane and taxi is anybodies guess, especially at Corfu.
The TUI situation made up our mind for us.

Yes we have booked independent at the Mathraki  (last year) for 2021. Just paid the deposit.

Looked at Rynair flights from Southend on Sep 1st, and yes they are cheap. Two returns including hold luggage was about £325 return.

Next year will be even better.

Hi

Somebody who was TUI has been officially told they their holiday has been cancelled in August
No mention of contracts only coronavirus.

They were offered up to £500 off a holiday booked with 7 days of the cancellation e mail, or 10 % of what was paid in a credit note to be used by Oct 21 and a refund.

Me too. TUI emailed me today to say they'd cancelled my holiday as they couldn't guarantee the quality of provision that we should expect. A bit previous, methinks

Hi

It would seem that TUI are consolidating flights due to low bookings. Along with other companies no doubt.

We were due to fly on a Thursday to Corfu. That flight has been cancelled. Only the Friday flight is flying. Our booking still shows the Thursday flight.

This has happened to flights going to other islands, from other aiports as well as Gatwick, with people we know.

So we are  assuming, as they have cut a Thursday  flight to Corfu, they are t/f'ing  passengers to the Friday flight to fill one plane. Those who unfortunately who are not able to be t/f'd  as the Friday flight is now full are having their holiday cancelled.

Still waiting to hear from TUI for their explanation

Geoff
