Hi, I am new to this forum, but hoping to visit often. Myself and my girlfriend are wanting to come and 'live the dream' in Corfu possibly Arillas. I am a qualified mechanic looking for work to include Cars, Quads, Mopeds, Boat and anything else I can do!
What do you all think?
Do you think this could be successful?
What do local/tourist do for mechanics on the island now?
How easy do you think it would be to get a job in arillas? We know the winter months are going to be the hardest. We have been told that the ex pat community may be where we would more than likely find work.
My girlfriend works in healthcare but she is not fluent in greek and has been told she will struggle finding work, but again she will do any job. Cleaning hotels/rooms or personal homes.
If anyone on this forum could help us with advice or know of any jobs we would be eternaley greatful!
We are coming out in september for 2 weeks and hope to do a little bit of home/job search then also.

Thank you for reading this   :O)

Hi Wecome to the forum,
Can't tell you anything about jobs as a mechanic, but the new hospital in Corfu Town hasn't been open long so your Girlfriend could stand a chance there. Cleaning jobs are not well paid and most are only during the tourist season.
Anyway wishing you the best of luck. Viv

Stay Nude it ante rude

There is already 4 (i think) businesses around Arillas/ Kavvadades, who repair cars, motorbikes, quads etc.
I think that finding jobs here can be very difficult, which was one of the reasons we waited to retire before moving here. /i'm not sure how or if you will find work.

If you are coming for a visit first, it may be worth spending time trying to make contacts, and finding more info on job situations. Good luck.

thank you both so much for the replys.  Could you tell me more about the hospital in corfu? does it matter if i do not speak greek?

BEST TO GO TO THE HOSPITAL WHEN U COME IN SEPTEMBER.I UNDERSTAND THEY HAVE A FORM FOR JOB APPLICATIONS. BETWEEN NOW AND THEN WHY DON'T U TRY TO LEARN A BIT OF GREEK. IT CAN'T DO ANY HARM AND WILL HELP U BE A LITTLE BIT MORE PREPARED.
