Just back from 2 fantastic weeks in wonderful Arillas. We once again stayed at Kaloudis Village, in Roula's private accomodation which is great.

Thanks to the thread on here about favourite eateries, we tried several new tavernas and had some superb meals, the best it has to be said, were at Brouklis.  Looking forward to seeing the new website of the restaurants (I think we are in nearly every shot taken at Brouklis  :-) ) and here's to Arillas 2011, counting down the weeks already!

Yes, we'll be back!  We have already pencilled in some dates with Roula! :-)  This was our 3rd year in Arillas, (5th year in Corfu) and there is always something to discover or do. The trip to Albania (with Olga's Travel) was a real eye opener!

Hi Topsey - we've been to Kaloudis Village three times now and love it there! We're back again in May 2011.  Billy and family (and, of course, Billy the Kid and family) are so lovely and welcoming, and the place is so well kept - they all work very hard to make your holiday enjoyable, don't they?
We're back in Arillas at the end of September this year, but will be staying (for a change) at Horizon - booked independently

We've not been to Albania - why was it an eye opener? Would you go again, or recommend it?

Hi Janis,

I think Albania was just such a shock because it is SO under-developed. I always wonder what the Corfiots would make of our manicured gardens and streets - but Albania is years behind Corfu (due to the former communist regimen).  The roads were in the process of being widened so were just dirt tracks (they were kept narrow to avoid enemy helicopters landing!) and a number of buildings were semi (well, not even a quarter) bulldozed as they flouted planning permissions so the place looked almost like a war zone.... and then, amongst all this was a shiny, new hotel!  (I can send you a link to the photos on Facebook if you PM me).  There is no doubt huge investment going on there, Billy the Greek said it's THE place to invest in property at the mo.

As for Kaloudis, we've tentatively booked again for next year with Roula.  Her apartments are just that bit quieter, being away from the bar - but we do very much enjoy the atmosphere in the bar/pool and quiz night is a must!  We won breakfast for two (2nd time in our fortnight, plus a 2nd place too!) on our last night and have a 12 month expiry rather than the usual 24 hours! Billy was a little bemused but Little Billy was more than happy to extend the terms! (he manages the bar/pool area now).  Roll on July 2011! :-)

Thank you for the report Topsey! I have never been to Albania and by the sound of it sounds very different from lush Corfu.
Life is good ;)
