Hi Folk
Sandy & Viv - if I'm not the only one to fly from Heathrow, was I the first?
Anyone visit Corfu before 1970?
Picture of yours truly trying koumquat for the first time while staying at the Club Med village at Ipsos in September 1970

Best wishes

Therein lies an interesting story PJ. My friend and I camped for three weeks at Dassia, I think in 1972 when we were students. We were poverty stricken and basically couldn't even afford to eat. We discovered we were camping next door to the Club Med place and one night we discovered a hole in the hedge and crawled through.....and went to dinner there. It was all self-service and nobody seemed to notice us there....so we ate there every night....then crawled back through the hole in the fence. Very nice food it was too.....Of course I wouldn't dream of doing such a thing now.....!!!
My first visit to Corfu was in 1966, but that was by boat on a school cruise. We had been meant to be going to the Holy Land but because of the war there, we were rescheduled to the Greek Islands. It was all a bit embarrassing having to walk round Corfu Town in school uniform....

Great story Sandy - not only that but you were also there in 1966.
I agree the food at Club Med was great.  It was the first time I'd tried all sorts of to me exotic cuisine.

Sandy, O deary me, Im sorry but I have to disagree with you, wasn't it only last year that you crawled through a hole in the fence, OK so it wasn't to eat at club med but some things about you will never change and I wouldn't want them to. lol.
As for P.J.s question no I have only flown from Heathrow once sounless someone claims differant you can have the crown for that one. Viv

Stay Nude it ante rude

LOL Viv....forgot that one....also a time at junior school with the same friend....for some reason we used to crawl through the hedges into all the posh houses on the way home....and pick all the decent flowers from the gardens. But I was only about 8 then.....

i live 20mins from stansted,,,but always seem to fly from gatwick ..oh well as long as we get there..........yammas

Same here Kevin.  We would fly from Stansted too, if only we could get a flight, and Luton would be our second choice as we live midway between them.  However, we always seem to end up at Gatwick yet again!  Stansted is about 30 mins away from us.

Colin, tis always the same. MartinW and many others from the SouthWest find themselves deciding "long journey to Gatwick or another 100 euros to spend in Arillas..." No brainer really. We fly from Gatwick in July. (That's 40 pints of Mythos!!!)

And growing up is prohibited not optional....

lol

I think it also depends on the locality of the airport to where you live ... :)

Doncaster gets my vote

I'm just off to my local airport (Southampton - alas no flights to Corfu) where I am having a quick coffee with my friend who is flying down from Edinburgh and stopping for an hour before her connecting flight to Perpignan.

Hi Phil,

Wish we could stay until you get there in July.  Oh well, we may win the lottery I suppose. lol.

Anyway, I've no intention of growing up whether it's optional or not.  I have more fun this way.
