Now that the holiday season is just about over i suppose another season opens for the hoteliers and staff. There will be building and maintenance, farming and harvesting. I believe there is an olive farm local also....riggers..

Lindypops

True enough. I do know of one owner there, who helped another with his counter laying. By jumping up and down on it!!

Out of Season Work ?
Just a thought, what the young Polish guy who worked the sun beds this summer is doing now the season is over.
The young man was very polite and sociable and always with a smile on his face.
Never in a rush and took time to speak to every one.

The out of season work is a difficult one to answer. If you spend the summer season working and earning IKA stamps, then in the Winter you are eligible for unemployment benefit of aound e100 per week. If you should be paid "cash in hand" then, no stamps mean, no unemployment benefit. Fair enough I think. So, I think a lot of Polish and Czech's go home for the winter, especially if they haven't earnt stamps.
(Or live on what they've managed to save-But quite often lodgings come with the job)
Unless of course they know of any other work that pays them cash. Not easy I think.
A lot of Albanians involved with building work during Summer months will of course take priority over others should they stay on in the winter.

Thomas is always polite, and will try to engage people with a little light banter. I hope to see him next time.
