how great it was to watch authentic greek cooking ,and how simple the dishes are ,it made me and my wifes mouth dribble with delight so much ive had to book to take her to a greek resteraunt in london for sat night ,shame it wont taste like food in arillas,so ill just have to wait till i get back next year. unless anyone can recommend a resteraunt in london that might come any where near corfiot fayre...

There's a fantastic resteraunt near where we live that's run by a Corfiot chap and his English wife. The food is to die for ! Trouble is it's a two and a half hour train journey from you Kevin, which isn't really much help. Just thought I'd mention it. You could always have a look at their web site for future reference. www.kaminaki.co.uk Best food in the North East by miles !!

I missed the one in Corfu, but caught the one in Morocco last night that looked really interesting.

If that's inspired you (and you have Sky) you should try to catch my cousin Tonia's programme (Another shameless plug!) 'My Greek Kitchen' on Discovery Realtime.  They're showing one episode at 12noon and another straight after this Saturday!

I love that programme - watch it over and over again.  How lovely for you to part of that family, they all seem so nice!

My grandfather is the (now) famous, or should I say infamous Uncle Eddie!  She did a show at his house picking his vegetables and then she did a show when he was doing kleftiko in a traditional oven.

And thank you, they are a great bunch!  Very noisy at times but that's all part of the fun!

:)

Well Smoosh what a wonderful family you have and how gorgeous are Tonia's children!

My husband and I adore watching My Greek Kitchen! Its really great to see how the family gets together and see traditional life in Cyprus.

Tell your Grandfather that he fans here in the UK, it so nice to see a man cook! (I know its the norm in Greece).

I hope you get to go and enjoy many more family get togethers!  (not that we'e jealous....much...)

He does all the cooking!  As such my Mum, my aunt and me are all big fans of cookery!  My other half is having a go though, making efforts to be a 'new man'!

I'm expecting to put on at least half a stone in Arillas...  :)

Oooo and by the way, Tonia had a new baby last Wednesday.  Another little boy!  So a playmate for Zephy!

I tried out the recipe on his program from the other week with the roasted lamb.

I put leg of lamb in a roasting tin, poor over some wine (I didnt have lager), sliced a small red onion for flavour, salt and peppper, loads of rosemary and topped it up with lots of hot water.

Covered for about 3 hrs and cooked slowly... 240 degrees for 20 mins, turned down to 175 for the rest of the cooking time... it was browned very nicely and was very moist and absolutely gorgeous... with greek salad and new pots rolled in butter/olive oil, salt and pepper and 1/2 squeezed lemon with a bit of crushed garlic.... very nice it was.
If you want the rainbow, you gotta put up with the rain.

I've got the book! 9.96 Tesco's got our beloved Gigantes in there, looking forward to trying all the recipe's not just the Corfu ones. I want a Tagine!

Smoosh, great news about Tonia yet another Adonis in the family! Lets hope that she films a Christening ceremony or something for us all to enjoy, we could keep an eye out for you then!

Does anyone remember watching Galley Slaves? I used to love watching this and seeing the other islands of Greece.
