James, Boots extra strength tropical wipes and spray contain 50% deet and are very good.  I always get eaten but these work.  Spray yourself before you go out at night and take the wipes to "top up".  Also use plug ins in the bedroom.

Hi sharonF.
                Thank you for the info.
I wish I could recall where I read about DEET being a health hazard. I know it has been used for a number of years now.

In Turkey we purchased a repellent that contains Citronella rather than DEET.

Last October when in Crete, we used that, also I used an electric plug-in that generates a high frequency sound. Despite a few mossies buzzing about (which I splatted) we were left alone  :-)

I'll inform my wife to expect mossies (she hates them, they love her) and she'll stock up with protection   ;-)

Another little tip is to buy a box or 2 of the citronella tea lights and have a cpl burning around you where ever you go of an evening,I tried this a few weeks back and it did indeed help(the local doctor told me to do this, after my visit from a very nasty bite that caused an allergic reaction)and they are not offensive in smell and the taverna owners didnt mind the extra bit of romantic lighting
