lack of accommodation

Hi

Just wondering what's happening back end of June. We're really struggling to find somewhere to stay for a week. All the usual places are fully booked. What's going on?

One of the reasons I believe is that holiday companies are taking booking earlier.

For example we booked for Arillas Sept 2025 with Jet2 in Oct 2023 and if you have booked the flight you may as well book accommodation.

Booked Sept 2026 with Jet2 Oct 2024

We've always travelled independent of the major tour operators, so getting our choice of where to stay was never a problem. It just seems that everyone and their uncle wants to be in Arillas back end of June. Have spoken to a lot of the independent accommodation owners and no-one has anything available. Things are so bad we are looking at staying in another resort.

From what I have seen on Facebook it's because of the linen-clad happy clappers booking up the resort because of some festival.

Yes, that's what I heard too. Desperately disappointing for those regulars who always go at that time of year (normally ourselves included, but not this year fortunately), but glad I won't be there, to be honest.

Found out there's a Solstice festival at Colibri Farm (Googled it) that week, bars etc will be full of them with their one bottle of water and eight glasses, please types.

However , I think local Tavernas and bars will be clamping down on anything like that which keeps tables away from Tourists.

Yes it's all well and good having all the 'silent huggers' packing the resort but only if they are going to bring lots of money with them! I shall also be interested to know the same as from what we have seen over the years.last year for instance, a lady sat in Ammos and had a burger and cut it up into three portions for her and her two companions, with the the standard bottle of water between all of them..

Similar. We were in a restaurant one night and a party of 11 arrived. From what I saw, they had 3 jugs of water, and two dishes of green beans....between eleven people! Not only that, but the restaurant was full and the owner was having to turn people away. I really hope there isn't a repetition of that kind of behaviour, for the sake of the businesses.

The tree huggers may not spend a lot in the Taverna's but they do have money thats for sure ! We have noticed that the prices of clothing , such as linen dresses , has gone up ridiculously over the last few years so much so its out of our price range now ..... the tree huggers however seem to mop them all up without a thought !
I know of a few people that have been there while the festival was on , including Sonia , that were far from impressed with the vibe about the place 🤔

We encountered them a couple of years back in September. No doubt there were some visitors who vowed not to return.

Not criticising their philosophies and way of life. Each to their own. No doubt, as usual, it's probably the minority of the group who caused problems.Although at times there seemed a large minority.

We met a couple who were the Keepers of The Egg. Each carried an egg, one in a small basket and another in a small sling. Apparently, they have to take the eggs wherever they go and care for them during their stay. Had quite a chat with them.

Others reported on the forum various negative comments and apparently the taverna's were not happy as they occupied a large number of tables eating olives and drinking water for hours on end. Their manners left a lot to be desired.

I was criticised by somebody on the forum , can't remember whom, who thought my comment about them invading a taverna, drinking water and olives, whilst smoking non tabaco substances, was out of order and offensive. I did apologise.

My personal grouse was one of their campsites on the hill leaving the village, with the Amourada on the left, heading towards the Mathraki it looked a mess and got quite rowdy at night with the chanting and drums until early hours.
When they left the site looked like a tip.

On the footpath over the cliff top was humane faeces was often evident
