Hello,  Arillas Addicts, I need your help!

I'm just back (18hrs!) from yet another wonderful holiday in Arillas and am already planning holidays for 2014.  My partner (who couldn't come to Arillas this year due to timings/kids) is really into sailing (yachts, dinghy etc) and not a beach bunny like me so we would like to combine our two interests whilst on holiday in Corfu.  I get seasick on a lilo so staying on a boat and sailing round really isn't an option!  Can anyone suggest where is the best place for sailing - as in renting a boat daily?

What we'd like to do is to have accomodation in a resort  (preferably Arillas!) or villa with a pool but then easy access to sailing. Then he can go off and sail and I can spit roast by the pool/beach.   My default would be to go back to Arillas (having stayed at Kaloudis, in Roula's private accomodation I'm rather spoilt and it's like going home) but I don't know where is relatively near (as in not half hour drive) for sailing.

So Arillas Addicts, please pass on your words of wisdom and knowledge and I can get planning summer 2014.
Thanks! :)

Hi Steph.
I will stand to be corrected, but if it is a "proper" yacht that you are seeking I believe that the only marinas that hire yachts are on the East Coast, the main one being at Gouvia which would take about 45 minutes by car. If you Google "yacht hire corfu" you will get a listing of the operators.
If a simple motor driven boat would do then you need look no further than Arillas Beach!!! Just see Sammy or Gary :-)

Thanks Geoff. I know there are some huge marinas around the east side and boats go to Kassiopi.  He doesn't want a yacht (of the type you could stay on) but rather a boat with sails, like you'd take out for the day, the sort you'd see racing at weekends on lakes/resevoirs or competing at the olympics at Weymouth  :)   All the ones on google are yachting holidays which isn't really what we want, so I'm hoping someone might have insider info on where you can hire sailboats.

email Noula at San Stefanos Travel (info@san-stefano.gr) - if anyone knows then she will !!

Steph,

Have a look at this http://corfu-sailing-events.com/index.php/hire-sailing

They hire class racing yachts by the hour, alternatively windsurfing of Arillas beach lol..

Thanks for that - have been searching and unbelievably it didn't come up!
Hope all's well. When are you off to Arillas? Was going to message you to warn of other folk booking Kaloudis who you may not wish to bump in to!

There is guy just along from the main watersports who rents out a small dinghy - a laser I think.  At least he was there two years' ago.  I always try to take it out for a bit but I never seem to find any decent wind!  In fact he has always been reluctant to let me take it out because whilst it is breezy on shore, he knows that the wind drops as soon as you get a few dozen meters out to sea.

Ah thanks for that info. Really need something to rent for a week, rather than odd occasion.... until I convince him that holidays are for relaxation and that, in Greece, the only exertion required is lifting a beer!
