Oh dear!

news about the Volcano erruption is causing concern for returnees waiting to depart Arillas and also those counting down till they arrive here.

Some people due to leave for the U.K tomorrow are concerned in case they have a mammoth wait at the airport due to planes being grounded back home.

We don't leave till Friday but by then the situation could well have worsened knowing Ash Clouds as we do from last year!!

We wait with baited breath and hope disruption is minimal
Hope you get out here folks it is really beautiful this time of year

Cheers Nan x

Yep, bad news indeed with a volcano going kaboom. We can only wait and see....
Life is good ;)

Like last year (where there was a huge over reaction as concluded by all involved), this has come at a bad time, right at the start of the sason. However, this is a smaller less active volcano, creating a different type of heavier ash, which is seen as less of a problem to aircraft engines, if any at all as it stays airbourne for less time. Of course the daily gutter rags in the UK will milk this for all its worth, unless a certain very honoured Man Utd player is not hogging all the headlines with his super injunction (don't block this, its on the BBC now) Hopefully this will all blow over within 48 hours with only slight if any disruption and we can do what is best, countdown with excitement to Arillas 2011 :-)

I'm due to fly out on Monday 30th. I am a little concerned but whatever will be, will be.

Samwell

Im sure everyone will be fine and get to their patch on the beach at Arillas :)

I had thought though, if I booked a flight to Corfu for the weekend, IF the worst should happen, I couldnt return home for work... oh dear... second holiday in Arillas, damn...! ;)

But seriously, it'll be all good and well.

I woke up this morning to further stories about Ryan Giggs. On the inside pages there is an article about flights being grounded. I must admit I'm worried. Although we've booked a package holiday and I know I'll get my money back I don't want tomiss out on my week in Arillas. My daughter has already packed and has started packing for her brother.

Hope you get  there Mick.  Have a good one mate.  Not long now.  Also plenty of feedback please Mick. You may still be there when we arrive!!!

Lisanmark

Hl Mick-G and Lisanmark,  we also fly out on 30th, Thomsons 14.40 from Manchester, like you Mick ours is a package but who wants the money back, we want to be in Arillas.

This mornings news is no better, but maybe by the weekend it will improve.

Just keeping our fingers crossed.

It is worrying, but also a bit nanny state. We live in Newcaslte, currently scheduled flights with KLM, Air France, SN Brussels and Easy Jet are being cancelled where ever they are going or coming from. BA are fine as are LuftHansa and smaller airlines to and from Northern Germany and Scandinavia. All holiday flights via Tom, LS and TC are going and landing without problem....why? Is it easier to cancel a scheduled flight and it causes so much more grief and backlash to cancel a holiday flight? I doubt very much that ash can tell the difference between the two. They said this time it would be better than the blanket ban, but how is it safe for Thomson to fly to the Med and not for easyjet? Same airport, same day, same planes, same ash?

Lisanmark

Hi val, we are keeping everything crossed. I just hope we can get out there. I don't mind if it gets worse while we are out there. Just means another extra week in the sun. I wouldn't mind that at all. Ha

Hopefully it will pass quickly. Yes flights are being cancelled at Newcastle, a KLM arriving flight from Amsterdam has been diverted, but a Thomson flight from Palma has recently landed. A lot of scheduled flights are cancelled and almost all chartered flights are arriving and leaving as per schedule. Whats that all about? Maybe Mozzi spray and suntan lotion reacts with the ash :-)

I just checked on the Thomas Cook website and they have advised all travellers to continue to travel to the airport. They are advising that no one on the package holidays will lose any money. I'm hoping that we can get there but struggle to get back. Wouldn't it be hell to be stuck in Arillas?
