Pre holiday
« on: September 20, 2009, 09:40:57 PM »
Just wondering. Does anyone else clean the house from top to bottom before a holiday? I'm knackered. I've done the windows, washed the blinds, cleaned the oven, done the washing and ironing. I'll change the bed on thursday night before we leave on friday. As Tony says, "burglars or squatters wont care if the house is tidy". It must be a woman thing. Glenda.

Well done Glenda! I admit to cleaning everything always before I go. It is just that much easier when you have to come back ;)

Have an excellent holiday and may your beer be tasty ;)
Life is good ;)

There's another perspective on this Janis. Thieves will go for a tidy, well-kept place. They'd take one look at ours and think - er no, next door then...

My mother used to clear up the newspaper while dad was still reading it! Cured me forever...

Jen's sister used to scrub the kitchen floor before the electricity meter reader arrived. And he didn't have to go through that room, only the hall.

But agree with Sandy - we always have clean sheets ready on the bed for recovery from 12 hours of hell doing air travel, airports, trains etc.

Phil

I'm so glad I'm not alone. I too, have to have a major clean before I leave for my hols.  Floors scrubbed, furniture polished, beds changed, up to date with the ironing & grass mowed.  And then there's the packing to do. When my girls were small that would be for 5 of us.  Gary will stand there & ask WHY???  - I don't know. I haven't got an answer. As you say Glenda, it must be a woman thing.
That must have been so awful to get burgled though Janis - which reminds me of my other ritual - locking all the windows & double checking that the doors are locked whilst everyone is sat in the car moaning & shouting for me to hurry up!! I can't help it :(
