Royal Ionian Micro Brewery
« on: July 21, 2009, 04:48:11 PM »
We made two visits to the Royal Ionian Micro Brewery. On the first visit we were not allowed to look around because bottling was taking place and safety regulations were in force. Despite this we were still given samples of the new beers and all I can say is that the Real Ale is one of the best beers I have ever had.

Have a look at this Erja.

We went up the next day and Spiros showed us around. Spiros is the person who setup the brewery and he is a really nice guy. I am told that he is also a very good singer and guitar player.

The brewery is spotlessly clean with stainless steel everywhere.  The new Real Ale was just being brewed and can be sampled in Brouklis. We had it with our last two meals and it was lovely. This is the second new beer called Special  Real Ale

For a real treat have some like this......... pure nectar.

Please support the Brewery and ask for their beer wherever you are in Corfu.

Just before the BP garage - go past Anna's studios and just past the turning for San Stefanos.

Needless to say we sampled it. And Jen had some most days, when there was any left.... It is a good alternative for those who don't want the sharpness and gassiness of lager beer (I still like my Mythos.) Very popular.

Jen used to pour hers into the glass and wait for a few minutes. She reckons it is best when the bubbles have subsided and not fully ice cold.

BTW - there are two - a light one and a darker one. The dark one seemed by far the most popular, but we tried both. That way you can find out just what you really like.

Wonderful - double the pleasure of trying a new beer!  If I'm drinking beer, I do prefer a "proper" one rather than the gassy lager types, but always enjoy a Mythos when in Arillas!
We Yorkshire folk like a "reet good owd beer" now and then lol!

Col agrees, he loves his real ales. he tried the real ale in Arillas & said it compared well to the Yorkshire ales.
It is also available in the Rainbow

Looking back I think it was the beer that Viv and Pete introduced us to... Is it the one with the red label, and is slightly dark and nutty?
