I'm afraid I  don't know Russell - but rest assured they'll be plenty of folk who will help you out re: this request - I'm certain of it :-)
How was your holiday?
Weren't you over there at the same time we were?

Portofino is lovely. Good food, great service, value for money.

But you didn't try Brouklis, Rainbow, Captains, Tria Adelphia, Marina, Thalassa, Kostas-on-the-beach, Horizon, Mirage, Akti, Grazella, Amourada, Eftithia, Vavilas .... and that is in Arillas itself. All do full on night-out meals. We have eaten in all of them, and have had some incredibly good food. justphil's best was either fried perch in Thalassa or sofrito in Brouklis. justjen's was prawns in Thalassa and village chicken in Portofino. But above all was Grazella's garlic prawns. Must have had them ten times and always special. No wonder I put on 12 pounds (5 kg for our Greek friends...) during our month with you.

We don't just drink, we EAT.
love to all
Phil and Jen

Phil I am impressed by all the names of resturants you seem to rattle off....you say you have been in them all does this include "Whispers" as well.......LOL

justphil

'Fraid so keefy. Whispers and Calypso as well, neither of which is still in business. Sad aren't we...

I remember eating at Calypso, although I think it was called something different then....but don't recall ever eating at Whispers - thought this was just a bar and disco?

Sandy X Now don't shout at me but I think (I may be wrong often am) but Whispers may have been a Pizza parlour.  I am open to a repremand if I am wrong.

justphil

You are both right - The pizza place was next door to Whispers, but I believe was owned by the same people. Calypso was our favourite in 2002/3. Old fashioned solid fuel range and good traditional Greek food. Yum!

yes phil....the pizza place was next door but owned by the same people....a very popular eating place with some of the young folk. Prior to that it was called the Acropolis.....the waiter who worked there (Mikralis) then went on to work at Eftihia's.

Phil & sandyX you both amaze me you know all of this (also I was a little bit right)

Shame it is not open now......but still there are plenty of other eateries there in Arillas

All this talk of food is making me hungry....."what's for tea darling" he shouted....LOL

blondegirl

Dimitris... is that Bardis Sun with Poppy and Spiros or with Dorita at the Hotel?
If you want the rainbow, you gotta put up with the rain.

kes

We called in the Pizza place the year before  it closed... no meats or salami...no mushrooms or peppers..nothing.. all they had was Cheese & Tomato..they looked realy fed up and we wern`t suprised the following year when it shut.
...I am not sure but I think the pizza place in San Stefanos does a delivery service to Arillas !!

justphil

hi kes

You could watch Whispers decline and what you describe was part of that. I would love to see a new family oriented taverna open up on that corner with a place for the young families to go, where the kids would be happy while the mums and dads could relax. If I had the money I would start it myself.

Pizza? I would never need that delivery service. Even in four whole weeks I didn't get to eat everything or everywhere I wanted to. OK I did some twice because we adored the food. But next year we will complete the list - we haven't eaten at Horizon, Mirage or Efithia yet. Then there will be Mon Amour and Night Owl...

Just planning my Greek menu for tomorrow
