are there many places in arillas were you can buy duty free as in ciggys etc.pilko

Eggy

Pilko

"loads" is the answer. Expect to pay 29 euros for 200 superking black or 23 euros for 200 Sterling. ( Sterling are made by Galagher and are just as good )

Cig prices are the same, wherever you shop, as the price on the pack is the price you pay. ( But if you buy loads you can always ask for a free lighter, or two )

Tobacco and cigs are, therefore, priced at the same price as the Airport but for any alcohol you may have to shop around.

That's exactly it pilko. The price is fixed. We buy 200 Richmond for 24 euros. We always support the locals so we usually buy from Ina. She does the credit card without a charge. Eggy (thank you son) helped us transport them to our apartment at Elena Stella, but all of the supermarkets will vie for your business. In Sidari you could get a travel bag for free with them. We had no use for the bag, or for Sidari for that matter so Ina did it for us. The same fags are £4.90 here. If we hadn't gone to Arillas we would have spent the same money.

As for the lighters - they won't let them on anyway.

Be careful Tony. HM Customs are imposing a new illegal duty paid limit. They have published a booklet which says that 3400 cigarettes (16 sleeves of 200) are a "reasonable" amount for personal use. What they do is confiscate all of them if you bring any more, even though they are duty paid in the EU country of origin, into the UK. We know - they did it to us and we lost a fortune as a result.

Its Ok Phil half was for the wife who dont smoke lol

Eggy

I always looked for something to "offset" the cost of a holiday.

I don't know the price of Cigs now in the UK. - £55 for 200 average? ( £5.50 for 20? )
So if you take back 16 packs of 200 at £24 then you "save" about £500.
( And if both partners smoke ? - You've virtually paid for your holiday! )

There will always be, of course, some non smokers who may sell them on at £32 a pack of 200 which knocks, around, £110 off the cost of their holiday.
( Or the price of a small hire car if both partners smoke )

I hope I haven't started another anti smoking debate here. I know it's not healthy but if you smoke then what better way to save on holiday costs?

Mind you, if we gave up smoking just look at the extra cash we would have for the holiday anyway. - Hmmmmm !

Cheers

At least that way Eggy you make a bit back rather than changing euro's back into sterling it does offset the price of the holiday a little especilly with the cronic exchange rate

djhaydn

16 x 200 is 3200,
just got 3200 light blue next (equiv to lambert and butler) for 304 euros
should last a year...lol

justphil

I know djhaydn! Jen picked me up as soon as I posted it. Was thinking about our combined "allowance" of 6,400. Sadly they won't last us past February. To make matters worse we can't fly out to Arillas then so will probably end up on a 3 day jaunt to Majorca like we did last year. Hard life isn't it...

djhaydn

only to feb phil?????? you smoke to much.lol
i am lucky as i still had 2000 from the july trip to rhodes, now that is hard.lol

Funny you say that djhaydn. All our Greek friends tell us so when they spend half their lives emptying our ashtrays!
