LOL, Oregano you gave me a fright there!  After enjoying your sunset pics I thought for a minute you had posted a topical photo on this board ;-)

well said nan! i did find though that people tended to take less notice on the naturist beach as on a "normal" beach, or perhaps its just arillas, and the people that go there are less judgemental or the less than perfect body, whatever it is i have felt more comfortable on the naturist beach than i felt in my cozzie around the pool in spain!

Maddy calling,
been there done that twice and loved every minute of it. Doesn't matter about wibbly wobbly bits,it's meeting people and having a laugh with people who go there time and time again. We're back 27th July

Hi Folk
I agree with Maddy - the most important thing is enjoying the freedom of the beach and often chatting with people of like mind.
Hope you have a great time, Maddy, 27th July onwards.
Best wishes
Pat

It is a year now since there were posts on this thread. But naturism in Arillas is alive and well. Fears about the size of the beach were squashed for me in July this year when I spent the only two days on it that I could be away from my great friends all around the village. Jen and me need six weeks holiday to cover all the bases, and then we could do it all again, over and over.

Yes it is less spacious than it was in 2008, but given the weather conditions, I waded round the outcrop with ease both times. That is the norm. I met Steve and Steve, a gay couple who spent every day there on sand, not pebbles, with a lot of space to spread out. I swam in the sea, dried off in the sun laying on the sand.  I sunbathed behind the big rock at the far end (like PaulD said, I feel uncomfortable on my own, I am so used to Jen being by my side. I feel good behind my rock.)

2008 was a magnificent year for the beach. But those of us who have seen it in a different condition will agree. It is still a great place for naturists to spend a hoilday.

Thanks Phil for the reassuring update on this subject.  Julia & I are just hoping that its just as you say in ten days time when we wander up to the North end and wade round that rock.
Best wishes

Patrick dear, I hope it is like that for you and Julia. I can only report what I actually experienced. The second time that I visited the naturist bit at the North I needed to get wet half a dozen times, but only up to my calves. And there were plenty of sandy places for eyeryone, and quite a few there.

I still think the North end is best. But the improvements at the South are also good. All the rocks that you had to climb over have gone.

Both ends are beautiful. Like I said before, the beach is as good as ever, just a different shape. And yes, smaller than 2008 which was a one-off.

Have a great holiday

Last week we noticed quite a few people all dressed in white clothes, male and female.  These same people were seen "au naturel" at the southern end of the beach.  Rumour has it they were European, not British and doing strange ceremony type things.  It did coincide with the new moon.  Haven't ventured down there this week, and the last couple of days it has been heavy rain!

mathsboffin medear, it is sad for holidaymakers to be there in the rain, but for us it is just another side of being in Corfu and being in Arillas. "When shall we three meet again, in thunder lighting or in rain... when the hurly burly's done, when the battle's lost and won...."

Jen and me live four miles from Glastonbury, and the same distance from Worthy Farm in Pilton, where the famous Glastonbury Festival happens. I rather suspect you know all this and I am patronising. Sorry if so.

The number of naked, naturist people at the Glastonbury Festival is far lower than the number of naturists in Arillas. And I'm confident of my numbers. I've done both for many years....

Happy hoildays

Janis

Thanks to Phil for reviving this thread - I'd not seen it before - and I've just spent time reading all the posts.
I identified with Jen when she said without her specs she'd no idea who was next to her (or something like that!) I'm short sighted (have both contact lenses and specs, depending on the mood) and now as I get older I'm also long sighted (nothing's ever that simple)
I must admit the thought of swimming in the sea purely as nature intended is still something I think about and will probably do sometime in the future. (wonder if my flabby bits would help me be more buoyant or would help me to sink????  lol)
Life IS for living - I know that

Hi Janis, I love the posts too, and also have to put me specs on before anything!

Janis luvver, you would be the only one who noticed you were naked. Naturists get very bored with people who care about all that bother.

I spent a good long time talking to a gay couple on the beach this year. None of us had any clothes on.  So what? We were talking about the economy and the recession. But who cared about our nakedness? None of us.

Our viv's strapline says it all "stay nude, it ain't rude."

I rest my case
Phil

Maggie

mathsboffin, I think they were bhuddists fron Zorbas that you  saw. We saw then too.

Sandy x

Think they must be there every year and I assume they are from Zorbas....but I definitely saw the white folk on the beach last year.

Beautifully and correctly spelled Sandy luvver. 10/10 and a gold star. I can't help myself. "Definitely" was correct. Quite rare.

I've seen many white folk on the beach, and like here in Somerset, very few who you might call black or yellow. I have had many black, brown, yellow and every other coloured friends. It is only simple. Some of my close friends are Greek as well... We love them all.

Yawn folks. But there is a point. To each his/her own. The point is that. Respect one another, whatever and whoever you are.
