I somehow think that an elderly lady on her own is going to be treated differently to an older man. Time to move on.

I think the one thing that we all agree on is that the beach in Arillas is excellent, friendly, safe, spacious and everyone is welcome.

I just wish someone could explain why the temperature in the sea varies so much, whilst we were there one day it was almost warm, the next almost icy.

Well if you find somebody that can explain that will you please ask them if they could give us a pridiction as to which days it was going to be warm or cold the day before hand. lol. Now that would be handy to know. Cheers Viv

Hi,everyone. I feel that I must add to the debate about single guys on the beach. Just to say that my wife, Heather, wasn`t felling great and decided to stay at our digs, so I hit the beach. It was strange being there without her and i have to say I felt uncomfortable. Why, I don`t know? I have every right to enjoy being there. You ask yourself what are other people thinking which I know is crazy. When we were both on the beach, we noticed the single girls would sit near a couple. Can you imagine if a lone man did that. Then I realised that I should just get on and enjoy my day.  Also, we found striking up conversation with people `au naturel` was far easier than with people covered up. There is no pretense and you are taken for what you are.  And,yes, I have to admit to admiring a pretty girl- I don`t think I`m alone there. Wife  eyes up the boys, anyhow.

One of the strangest things to happen to me,happened a couple of years ago.A single male(widower and first time on holiday on his own)asked me if i could put some suntan cream on his back,it felt strange doing it,but someone had to if he had started asking women then that would have been wrong, and there was nothing untowards involved.
I am used to being down there on my own,Sally will leave me sunbathing on our last day while she goes back to do the packing.I have never felt strange on my own maybe cos i am a nosey devil and know so many people now,i dont know?

I remember you telling me and Pete about it when we arrived on the beach, your face was a picture. Do you remember that time I went to get us some thing to drink and my back was a bit pink, that guy at the end asking me if I wanted some sun screen rubbing in. Good job nobody had a camera then because I bet I looked really startled. Im still sure it was William the way he appered out of no where. Viv

Have been trying all 'summer' to top up the tan developed on the North beach in Arillas during May this year.  We've just had the first sunny weekend for ages and we had a family gathering to attend in Manchester, so was unable to do any topping up of the tan.
However we came back to Lincolnshire via the Woodhead Pass and saw the sign for Holmfirth off to the left.  As I saw the sign a picture of Viv came into my mind of the time when she rushed up to me on the front at Arillas saying 'I'd know those legs anywhere'.
I think much sense has been written on this thread about Naturism in Arillas.  Even my dear wife joined in this year and seemed completely happy.

We are a couple thinking of visiting Arilla for first time. Wonder if there are facilities at naturist beach(Sunbeds ,Beach bar)
Similarities to Banana Skiathos?

justphil

Absolutely none cylib. Totally, beautifully au naturel. But it is a very short walk along flat beach to Kaloudis village (clothed of course) and all the other facilities. We always call in at Kaloudis for a couple of cold Mythos when we come off the beach and take a bottle of frozen water/snacks etc. with us when we go on.

Oh the naked debate goes on
although I respect people that prefer to leave their clothes of onf the beach , why when Adidas and other companies make perfectly good swimwear do you want to show a body that is only meant to be naked at birth? sorry I really wish the naturist bit of the beach was banned. The naked body is better left covered up

Sorry

Certainly not everybody fits my ideal of beauty down there and some people are down right odd but each to their own.

I think the nudist beach compliments the laid back style of Arillas. Definitely a hippy feel that end of the beach.

You're right it does complement the laid back style of Arillas and true each to their own thing - I suppose that's one of the lovely things about Arillas everyone respects what each other does which I couldn't imagine happening in a more commercialised resort.

Wife and I were in Arillas from September 19th to 26th (we are now annual regulars).  I was disappointed to see how untidy the part of the beach by the cliff has become, with discarded old parasoles, punctured airbeds, empty plasic bottles and assorted litter all over the place.

For those of us that like to take advantage of its relaxed attitude towards naturism the beach is unique because it is so easily accessed.  So it's a shame that a few mindless people treat it so badly.

I know most visitors are responsible people and it's the few that spoil it for the majority, so in the words of Captain Barefoot, the only things you should leave behind are your footprints.
