Hi Everyone,

Sorry not been on for a few months, hope everone had a nice christmas and new year.
I would like to ask for any information on the hotel Marvel, [ Traveling with Thomas Cook ].
This will be our 5th time in Arillas and although you are guaranteed a fantastic holiday experience in Arillas, there is always a shadow of doubt about the place you stay.
The last two visits where to the Bardis Sun Appartments, which where fantastic and we would have no problem going there again.
The price increase was astounding for next year, thats why we have had to look for a change.
Any help and information regarding the Hotel Marvel would be greatly appreciated.

Regards

Hi,we have stayed at The Marvel twice, last year and 2005.
Typical Greek family run hotel.Rooms have twin beds,tv,fridge and telephone.Safety deposit box and air con available at additional charge.Think it was 1.5 euros per day for safe and 5 euros per day for air con.Maybe someone else can confirm last years charges.
Breakfast was fruit juice, toast, tea and coffee. You can have a cooked breakfast at additional charge.
Spiros and Nikos will make you feel most welcome.Hoping to get booked for May again this year but waiting for dates to be confirmed by work.
Sure you will have a lovely stay.

Hi John

Although we havent stayed at the Marvel, we were staying just behind it a few years back at Irene Villa's and used the pool quite a bit.  The brothers there are absolutely lovely and Mick (hubby) always makes a point of going and having a nightcap with them every holiday.  From all accounts, you will have absolutely no problem with this lovely hotel and if you check out the reviews I think you will find them fantastic.

Hi,
Why not stay at The Bardis Sun Hotel. First class hotel, good pool, B@B, great prices in what was a Thomson 'Small and friendly' hotel, with Dorrita and the Bardis family to make you feel welcome! See my entry on the forum 'Bardis Sun Hotel goes Inependant'.
Yammas,
Martin.

We were shocked as well over the high increase with Bardis Sun Studios... thats why we opted for Easy Jet DIY and staying at the Bardis Sun Hotel like Martin suggests.  It was through his recommendation that we booked with Dorita for b & b..theres a kettle, toaster and fridge in the rooms too. Same position as the studios close to the beach but not in the middle of everything so quiet too.

We were even considering going to another resort (now dont yell at me!) but when the flights came up so cheap and the Hotel was very reasonable in Arillas well there was no other option was there.

There have been some very good reports about the Marvel in the past though.  Wherever you stay it will be great just to be there..

The Bardis Hotel.
I agree would be a fantastic choice, the only problem is that they don't have air conditioning and going in July/August is a major problem.
We spent a lot of time around the pool last year, and met Doritta and her daughter. [ Greek hospitality at it's best, she is wonderful and deserves the chance to prove it to a full hotel ].
I was so pleased that they have gone independent and wish them every success for 2008.
Thanks for the the info.

Thanks John B,
I usually go 'Off season' in May or September/October when the air con isn't so much of a problem.
Hope you find somewhere to suit! Maybe we'll bump into each other in Arillas one day.
Yammas,
Martin.

I was really pleased to hear Dorita gone solo now.. when we stayed at the Bardis Sun studios last year in June the hotel was almost empty!  Apparently she had only about 5 rooms booked from the start of the season until then.  By the end of our holiday there were a few more people there.  So I am pleased she may be much busier this year.  I felt sorry for her when the Studios were so popular and fully booked and she was empty.  It might get to be the other way round if the prices keep going up at the studios tho.

Also, you might get to meet a few more independent  holiday makers from other countries which  always adds to the holiday experience I think.

Marvel:  I have wondered about staying at the marvel before but would feel very guilty hopping over the road to have breakfast at the Captains which is a must at least once during the holiday.

Hotel Marvel or Marvelous Hotel, as some call it, has always given me the impression of a great place to stay in a good location.

I beleive they have had some good reveiws about the restaurant as well.

Only been in there to change books but welcomed as a long lost friend. Being a bit of a talker I have had a conversation, or two, with guests around the pool and have never been given any negative comments.

If we were taking a holiday in Arillas then this one would definately be on my short, short list.

We haven`t stopped there yet, but always have a good time when we pop in. The family are lovely, and the food excellent. Those of us that like a Sunday roast, wouldn`t be dissappointed.

Isn't the point of going to Arillas the people?

Jen and me could stay in a tent and be just as happy as if we were in the Regency Hyatt in Boston which we have done in the past.

Greek holiday lets are what they are - basic but a place to go home to after yet another fantastic evening with lovely Greek people. Maybe even some English etc.

Forget the air-con and get another ouzo! We know Eggy would agree with us, and he lives there now!

Come to Arillas and enjoy!!!

Nail on the head job there Phil & Jen.

The last 5 years we stayed at Eleni/Stella which was the basic as basic could be.
No offence to owner Olga here, she charged us, as a couple, £22 per night.
It was a base, somewhere to make a cup of tea, shower and hot water, decent beds.)
If we wanted another pillow or blanket we just asked.
And, as I remember, Sept 2006 the light ceased to function in the kitchen.
IT TOOK US 3 DAYS TO GET ROUND TO TELLING HER - GREEK TIME EH ?
Not very busy there and, most days ,it was like having your own private pool.

With more and more private bookings running alongside those package deals and with the introduction of easyjet everyone is spoilt for choice.
And, so much knowledge and information can be extracted from all forum members for anyone thinking of visiting for the first time, or returning after a long absence.

How can anyone go wrong ??
