Ταβερνα - Taverna
Couldn't resist this one.
(Who's that poor ole guy with a stick sat at the end ? )

Negg
I don;t know about the old man with the stick ,
but the last boy on the right must be Harold  (in 50 years)

φυτο - Is plant - ( Fyto )

Don't wanna be a smart ass but have you confused this letter with ΨΙ (PSI) .
Αs in ΨΑΡΙ - psari - Fish.

Or have I got totally confued with the greek alphabet?

( Anyone got a good picture of a fish ? - or a loaf of bread?)

Dimitris - Wegg says thankyou for saying it doesn't look like her.

Eggy,

According to my book and Babel Fish, φυτο is plant. I haven't confused it with Ψ because that is the letter I am currently looking at. There are bound to be quite a few discrepencies with these words because for all I know plant could be as Heavy Lifting Plant.

What we need now, is for someone to make a recording of the correct pronounciation of these words and upload to a website so we can listen to them.

Eggy and Dimitris,

What is the history of the "taverna" picture? It is an intriguing photograph that looks like a painting, or is it a painting? It really does show a delightful picture of daily Arillas  life. Very peacefull.

Κιριε
Κατελαβαινω Τορα - συγγνομη - (Katelaveno tora-signomi) I understand now - sorry.

You're right that the pronounciation is important. We played one the the Pimsleur learn greek tapes the other day and realised we had a couple of simple words quite wrong with the accents. Learn from mistakes is what we still do.

That Taverna picture was a postcard that Dimitris super imposed my face on. The "me" on the end was my forum photo for a very long time.

I remember Dimitris showing it to me on his computer when he was doing it. He said then that the old boy at the other end was going to be Harold and he did name the other 2 but I cant remember who he said now. I know we had a right laugh about it. love Viv

Looks to me that we are all struggling on - Ω ( ωμεγα ) - as Ohmega.

The best I can think off, with the help of a Greek Dictionary, is - ωνια (onia )
It means provisions/Goods. - So come on someone and take a picture of your food cupboard. -
It could make us jealous here. Hp Sauce/Salad Cream/Pickled Onions/Proper Bacon ?
Cheers
