Just booked a late deal online to Arillas. Arriving on 11 July for 1 week - really looking forward to a relaxing break in the sun.

Going with Thomsons and staying at Bardis Sun (B&B). Don't know whether its the Hotel or Studios but I'm guessing it's the hotel (although it said `apartments` on the latedeals website)? Both seem to be very popular on this website though, which was reassuring when I booked.

Thank you for all the useful info on this website. Also looking forward to visiting the various bars/restaurants/shops.

Hi Chris

If you are going B&B you should be in the hotel.  We stayed there twice in 2005.  The rooms are bright and spacious.  There is a swimming pool with lots of sun beds round it.  When we were there Dorita who owns it served a good breakfast with juice, Tea or coffee and toast and a choice of beans or egg on toast.

You have made a good choice.

I would not hesitate going back and staying there.

Have a wonderful time.

It will be the hotel that you are in. It is lovely. We have stayed there many times and have always had a wonderful time.

If it's the hotel.....beware the bar shuts at 6pm and the safety deposit boxes are inside the bar room, so you wont be able to access them after 6pm, use the ones next door at the studios

Apart from that, the hotel is gr8!

Ive also stayed at the hotel the first time i went to Arillas, really enjoyed staying there, lovely spacious rooms and lovely big pool.

Thanks for the tips and nice comments. Only just over a week to go, so really looking forward to it.

Are there any particularly good places to eat/drink we should try?

There are lots of nice places to eat.  Favorites of mine are Thalassa, Brouklis and Costas on the Beach.  The Captains seemsto be a favourite also but we haven't tried it.
The Coconut bar is popular in the evening.  Also the appartments next door to where you are staying is good.  We always had one in there before we went out and if we had an earlyish night one on the way back!

Enjoy ;)

I can recommend Thalassa, Costas on the Beach, Brouklis and The Captains, they are all really good places to eat, Thalassa is my absolute favourite!

Do pop in and see Bobby, Poppy, Spiros and George in the Bardis Studios next door, lovely friendly family, the bar is open til 1am so always good for a nightcap!

Hi Chris
I ended up in Arillas 5 years ago - much the same way you have- as a late deal and I've never looked back since! You'll love it. The Brouklis, Thalassa and Costas on the beach are lovely. Thalassa is really nice with lovely views and chilled out music too. Near where you're staying is a little basic taverna called Gratzella. It's a bit off-putting at first as the owner stands on the road to entice you in. You shouldn't be put off as it does nice food and the sunset views are spectacular! They do specials boards - 3 courses for around 8 Euros. My partner and I love it! Enjoy!!

Thanks again for the tips. 3 courses for 8 Euro sounds like a really good deal.

Can't wait to get away from this horrible grey and wet weather ... even here in sunny Dorset :-)

Chris, just enjoy the place, all the above posts are correct in there remarks about the Tavernas, one thing i will say is Yannis who stands outside the Gratzella is a bit of a character, noone will drag you into any of there Tavernas, they try in Corfu town though.
Harold,

Hi Chris, from all that I have read on this site I am sure you will have a great time. I am returning to Arillas after 20 years on the 16th and now getting so excited (even at my age).
I see on the map there is a Bakery near our apartment. Does anyone know please what time they open and close. Love fresh rolls in the morning. Roll on the sunshine.............sick of the rain here.

Can't help with the opening times but can recommend the cakes! My sweet toothed husband insisted on taking a walk up every day.By end of holiday he managed to sample most of their selection, much to the amusement of the lady behind the counter.

I always go up as im finishing my morning walk so about 1/4 to 9 they are open then, really missed my cream cakes this May as couldnt walk very well< I wouldn't have minded so much except I still put as much weight on as normal. ;-( Viv

I've been taking a look at the Thompson deals for last minute to Bardis Hotel. The hotel is gorgeous and you will love it but blimey Thompson aren't dropping their prices much !! It's still so expensive !
