Erikoussa
« on: January 14, 2023, 12:38:35 AM »
Hi I was wondering if anyone has done the trip over to Erikoussa. I can see a thread about Mathraki and Othonoi so apologies if I have missed any on Erikoussa.
Have been able to find general info online but was hoping for some personal experiences. Thanks !

Have found a couple of older threads but would appreciate anyone who has managed a trip across. Thanks

We went to erikousa in September!
Not much to see to be honest, very quiet, walked around, had a swim, had lunch.
Got the ferry from san stefanos around 9am got back about 4
We’d always talked about going to one of the islands so picked that one!!
I have some photos will try and put them on here, if not I can put them on the Facebook group x

Hi Ger. Thanks for replying!! Yes it looks very quiet - thought it would be nice to see something different. Was the boat journey OK? We will have 2 kids with us. Before kids we visited Paxos - stunning place and would go back in a heartbeat but boat journey home was so rough, wouldnt inflict that on the kids!!

Hi Laura, well, I like boats, but I didn’t like the trip out! My sister in law and I sat inside, my husband stood outside, but the deck was full of supplies to the island so not a lot of room. It was a bit choppy!! I sat with my eyes shut the whole time 😂
On the return we sat out at the back of the boat and that was much better.
It is a supply boat so no “luxury seating” just basic, I assume it’s the same for the other islands erikousa I think is the closest, which was lucky for us as I don’t think I could have gone much further!!

Hi Laura, I think that’s the right decision! It was ok for us oldies walking round nosing into gardens and empty properties!! but with two small children in tow, probably not so much!!
You could always hire your own boat for the day and go round the coast, there is a boat hire place on the front at kaloudis end.
Whatever you decide, I’m sure you’ll have a lovely time xx

Thanks Ger, we would explore a lot with the kids - we loved the abandoned village at Old Perithia - but a rough boat journey would not appeal!
Hiring a boat might be a good option, thank you!

We have not been but have been to Mathraki. It was really hot on the beach with no sunbeds or umbrellas so very difficult to get shade.  I have heard they do have sunbeds and  umberellas on Erikoussa.

Thanks SoniaP - think we will skip it this year! I have heard there is a hydro foil to Paxos which may be smoother!!
