Hi
Not a good start to the holiday.
At the boarding gate was denied entry as the name on the boarding pass was Geoff and the name on the passport is Geoffrey.

Asked what can do and the reply was ensure the names matched. TUI apparently can be fined £5000 if I was allowed to board due names not matching.

Trying
to remain calm I said that as far as can remember when I booked the holiday there was no comment you had to use your full given name. When you completed the passenger information prior online form  the stipulation was the names must match the passport. Which they did.

Told that she could contact security and they would not allow me to board

The checkin clerk finally allowed me to board but with a warning.

We finally arrived ok

Geoff

Oh Dear

Very similar thing happened to us a few Years ago...

I'd booked the holiday & used the name Jill on the booking - At check in as her passport was checked and as it is under the name Jillian we were told she couldn't fly!!

Eventually after numerous supervisors had been called & discussed the situation they relented & off we went.

That Year we were staying at the Mathraki & it was the days of Reps - We mentioned it to the rep & she said there was no way that they would allow Jill to Fly home - You can imagine how stressful departure was as we got nearer & nearer & Jill was almost past herself - Check in absolutely no problem & in those days the security didn't even look at your passport just waved you through....

Must admit lesson learnt & Jillian it is on all bookings now.

Hope you enjoy the rest of your Holiday

Cheers

Neil & Jill

Hi
Looked at the TUI 2023 and 2022 bookings I made and I used the name Geoff. No problems at gate.

Have looked at the 2024 and 2025 Jet2 holiday details and all booked in the name of Geoff so to be on safe side I will amend when home.

Will contact TUI when I get home to clarify the rules.

Hi
Passed check in and security with no problem. Departure gate was the problem. How you get through to departure before an issue is raised  is strange
